What title, no matter how much you play it you learn new things from it and never tire playing it?

For me it's Panzer Dragoon Orta, no matter how much I play it, it never feels like a chore to play nor does it matter that I've seen many of the routes before. I just love playing it. Maybe its due to the fact that it's part of a high score genre so I'll always have something to aspire to the wonderful S rank, which I've never managed for every level. Perhaps a major factor is that Smilebit produced so a stunningly beautiful title that it'll never look dated?

So what’s your title?

For me it's Devil May Cry 3 - It's been well over a year now since I started playing it solidly and I'm STILL finding out new little techniques here and there. The most amazing thing about it is whenever you learn a little trick you realise that the dev team have already tweaked and refined it to perfection.

There is no other character in any game I have ever played where you have such a degree of freedom in your control over and the entire game is built outwards from Dante. Nothing is set in stone and everything about the system can be manipulated to your benefit. Back when I was a yoot in the C64/8-bit days I used to watch all them Kung-Fu movies on Betamax( Wink ) religiously, I always wanted to know how the hero could keep track of when to attack/defend/dodge etc and I wanted this replicated in a game so bad with the feeling of being overwhelmed yet insanely skilled enough to make it look easy - now I've got it! Laughing out loud

I've just been selecting bits of the game I feel like playing and just caning it - it always makes me smile.....(OK it's more like an evil manic grin! XD) - It's depressing but I know in my heart I'll never see a Devil May Cry game like this again, gamers now hate this shit and I bet the series carries on as heavily simplified, ego stroking exercise that plays itself; but tbh I could play this forever so it dont matter.

Dante is THE Pimp.

Halo.

I may be a walking cliche, but nothing comes close to giving me the feeling that it does when playing it.

Too many to mention as of late; Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, Another Century's Episode, Remote Control Dandy SF and Armored Core Last Raven to name but a few. My favourite of all time is still the arcade original version of Virtual On though.

Is there anyone alive who doen't know mine yet? Wink
It's NiGHTS by Sonic Team. The most original use of flight in a game I've ever experienced. If you like the 'low grav' effect in NiGHTS, the only close example I can think for you to try out (in the modern gaming world) is Gun Valkyrie, which I also love. Ironically, there are far more older, 2D titles that use low grav as a play mechanic. It seems to have lost popularity in 3D

Other than that, any of the Ridge Racer games. They form a little universe that I love to crawl into from time to time Smile

For me it would have to be Disgaea Hour of Darkness. I can quite happily return to the game and play it. I am nowhere near getting characters to their maximum level (including stored levels).

So much to choose from, gratefully.

First of all, and with apologies to Squirtle - Halo!? Welcome to WRONG. Tongue

... and for me, I can't decide between Band Brothers and Space Channel 5 Part 2 right now.

I love Band Brothers so much, and I've played it since release. If I leave it a week or two, I know I have a solid evening's pure bliss ahead of me. Such a good game, and the expansion pack is very intelligently made, Nintendo have found ways of pushing you in different ways to the original roster.

Then you have Space Channel 5 Part 2, which must be the most joyful game of all time, something I can always return to. I friend of mine pointed out that no other game made him so happy, and so because of that it was his favourite game. A moment of clarify for me in the fug of trying to enjoy whatever rubbish Sony shat out that week. No other game makes me as needlessly happy as Space Channel 5 Part 2 does. Just a wonderful, well intentioned, purely joyful creation.

So yeah... Space Channel 5 Part 2.

I don't think I could pick one. But if you wanted to know what's in my top five or ten then I'd definately put in the following

Katamary Damashii
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Daytona USA
Bomberman (any version bar the 3D or Isometric shit ones)
Shinobi (arcade version natch).

I'm pretty good. Cut my teath on Dynablaster on the Amiga, which is a port of one of the early PCE versions iirc. Then got heavily into Atomic Bomberman for about a year (shit graphics but great gameplay and speed). Finally got hold of the Saturn version which was my favourite for ages until Paper got hold of the PCE versions, which are just fantastic imo.

Somewhere in there I had the misfortune to play the horrible PSX isometric one Sick

Cut my teeth on Amiga Dynablaster too.

It was a straight, licensed port of the original PC Engine game. You have a couple of NES Bomberman games before that too.

I *think* Bomberman 2 on the NES first introduced battle mode. Never had the setup for that.

Which is the best PC Engine Bomberman out of curiosity?

Proably the original. 94 is good, but Saturn Bomberman makes it redundant.

93 is a proper poor, looks like a rom hack rather than a sequel.

For me it would have to be Zelda: ocarina of time.
This game is just freakin genius. The ability to go back in time to unlock dungeons, so you can explore them in the future was just a master stroke. And some of the puzzles were great too. The combat was excellent aswell using the Z trigger to lock on to enemies, and what about the archery on horseback too?! I just hope Twilight Princess is just as good...

Sadly I've been thinking about this since Wednesday... aparently.

It's gotta be Sega Rally (1995)... I know I'm not the bestest at it, I know I don't understand how to play it completely... I know that I want to, and I must've been playing it on and off for the last 11 years...

Two (maybe Three) cars, Three (maybe Four) tracks... an entire run through can take anything upto 5 minutes...

You see for me it's a close second to Daytona. There's something about the big D that just floats my boat and whilst I've probably played them more or less the same amount if I was faced with a desert island scenario I'd pick Daytona everytime.

Daytona has three fantastic tracks although the beginner track is a tiny bit of a let-down on extended play. What makes the game though is the pack racing, handling and damage model.

One thing I would love to do and that's play Daytona on endurance mode. I'm not sure if the Saturn version allows you to do this? Gives a point to the pitstops Smile
