Ok, so I admit it, I am obsessed by Street Fighter characters. To me, they are the absolute pinnacle of anthropoid design in video games: colourful, original, functional. So, which ones are the greatest? Here are my top three:
At 3.....
SODOM

Amazing mask, Japanese symbol for 'Death' on his jersey, Gridiron-style shoulder pads, a desperate urge to be Japanese despite being a Yank, uses Katana and Sai slashes mixed with bone-cracking wrestling moves...plus his chouhatsu poses are really funny (fan, butterflies). Genius on a stick.

At 2...
IBUKI
Generic Ninja chick? Nuh-uh. Well, maybe in stills, but her actions totally give her another dimension. Her fade teleports, whippet-quick hand gestures and wide array of aerial, as well as low-hitting, attacks make her a delight to watch as well as play.

A serious house on serious Earth it is,

Are recognised, and robed as destinies.

And at number 1....
GEN
Angular, deceptive, fierce, evil, loaded like a trap yet sinuous like a snake. Gen is a true master. Capcom have made a fighter who oozes violence and malevolence. Beneath the apparently calm experior, Gen's inherent brutality and despite seeps through into his stance and attacks. None better.
So, who are your favourites?

before you posted your no1, i was thinking of Gen and necro as being the coolest..
gen is two characters in one. and you really have to give credit to capcom for that, supposedly the master milkers, giving one character so much more than the others.
even though everyone seems to hate the 3rd strike characters for being too freaky,(which i disagree whith hugely) i have to say how much i love necro. i admit i wasnt a fan at first, and even now am absolutely rubbish at using the guy. but hes got style. constantly twisting and contorting. the animation is just amazing on him, i love just watching him to see what he's actually doing in each move.
obviously i love makoto too, but more for the way she plays than the way she looks, which i'll admit is nothing too special. but when you see her in action its a thing of beauty.
Chun Li - geeky adolescent fantasies wouldn't have been the same without her.
MMmm yes those thighs, you can just imagine her doing an Onatop.
Why?
a. He is Rorshcach incarnate! Who? Take a peek at my avatar..No? Ok another pic ^_^
b. Q also has a frightning abiltiy for damage. Underestimate this character at your peril, he'll be crushing your face under boot in no time [he really does that!]. I love him!!
c. You know when you go to listen to an album you've not heard in a while? And the CD is missing and you can't for life of you remember what you've done with it? He's got it
If this all sounds familiar, that's probably because i've posted the love before

Alan Moore - i worship thee!
Oro
He's just a completey ace character. He has pets [which seem to have fossilised >_< ] like a turtle which walks on screen after K.O. and Oro is looking round like a mad thing trying to spot it
He's even 'magically sealed' one arm behind his back, as if he fought with both he'd KILL his opponent. Heavy. So heavy.
And to top it off, he pulls a Super Art which involves him dragging out a chi sphere from his nose, which you guessed it is green. Inspired.

Dudley, He is just liquid cool. I’d go as far as to say the coolest character in a beat em up.
His dad lost the family fortune and had to sell his estate. Gill acquired his dads Jaguar at an auction. This prompted Dudley to enter the SF3 tournament and earn back the car and his lost assets.
Some Win Quotes:
Despite your manners, I like your style. Let me buy you a drink...
Even a spectator needs to be sharp to comprehend the grace of boxing!
Fight like a gentleman... Live like a gentleman!
Learn to fight with class! Self-respect breeds discipline!
Not very articulated, are you? Work on your movements, chap!
To win with prestige and glory is a sensation like no other!
Not very articulated, are you? Work on your movements, chap!
Brilliant!
Lots of missing images here, so here's Dudley
Which is a far cry form the New Generation Dudley >_<
My only other character would be Rolento, i'd love to see a Zero 4 at SFIII standards. Hanging people shouldn't be so much fun ^_^

I only just noticed this, the effect here where Dudley does his qcb+k, very nice ^_^
See the sig Treble

I'm getting V for Vendetta hard back edition by Alan Moore for xmas but not a 360!
Cool, that's a really neat effect.
What we really need though is a SNK Fighters appreciation thread. Maybe after lunch

"For the next year most of the 360s will end up in the hands of the hardcore gamers because they are the most eager ones. So the first wave of software will reflect that." - Gerhard Florin, Head of EA Europe
Thought this would go down well with a few folk who like their fighters, SFIII style

Constantly updating the thing with stuff that'l go up. Larger stuff will have to wait for the time being ^_^

I love that video so much! XD - the way Ken pops up with a stupid grin as an example of Scrubbiness(TM) is mint!
When the chips are down and you dont give a fuck - trust

BTW you all need to be on the new Zero collection on the PS2 - it is The Shit! That massively tweaked up hybrid version of the game you unlock has every variance on the game system avaliable to select.
You can have original World Warrior style going all the way through the Zeros all the way to Streetfighter 3 parrying, the way they've implemented the parrying (you have to be playing Zero 3 system) is proper tight!

Yeah that bit raised a laugh. It's the way he just pops in and then pops out again with that cheesy grin

PS -
Zero 3 Zangief with parrying is DISGUSTING! - if someone messes up the height on a jumping attack evenn slightly and you parry - you can Spinning Piledriver immdiately so it looks like they havent even landed yet! XD

Alot are already up though another Thongboy tutorial is again ouside the limits of YouTube so i'll pop it onto google video soon as.
Here are the Tutorial Videos: http://www.youtube.com/results?search=Tutorial+TheShend&search_type=search_videos&search=Search
Then there's Master Class videos which are much shorter but feature various combos, set-ups and mix-ups for specific characters. Here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=Master+Class+TheShend&search_type=search_videos&search=Search
Just add the characters name into the search bar with 'Master' 'Class' & 'TheShend' to see one's for your character of choice. Some don't have any (e.g. Sean
) whereas others like Urien, have about 40 >_<
*bump*
There's 409 videos on my youtube profile now and it's only going to get alot larger. So i've decided to start setting up some Play Lists to make things easier.
But before I do, what sort of play lists would people want?
In the mean time, if you do want to look for something specific then i've tagged the videos in a number of areas:
'Master Class' : Shows you some move, combo or set-up specific to a character. The number differs between characters, Sean has none whereas Urien has 35.
'Tutorial' : Will draw up videos showing you how to use a character.
'Combo Video' : What it says on the tin, these vary from the match possible to the match-impossible.
'Tournament' : Any matches from a tournament.
'SBO' : Any videos associated or of the Super Battle Opera tournament.
'EVO' : Matches from or for the Evolution tournament.
'POPY', 'Uriden' and 'Acho' : JPN matches from particular arcades.
'FFA' : Family Fun Arcade in the US, good players.
I've also included the famous or very good players as well so you can hunt for well known and pinch their top strats!! 'Sugiyama' and PinoAB7 for Necro, YSB for Hugo, Roshihikari for Yang, RX, Pierre or Messatsu for Urien, KSK for Alex, Kokujin for Dudley, Yamazaki for Twelve and so on.
That's pretty much it, this list will grow to include things i can't currently fit on such as the Gamers Vision Ranking Battles etc. But just remember to add 'TheShend' at the end of whatever you're searching for it to come up from my profile.
Happy hunting.

There are some great vids on there. In terms of the tutorial/masterclass vids have you ever thought of overlaying the control inputs in real time? Matching the inputs up with what's happening on screen would provide a huge insight into the skill of the players and the techniques employed. With a hacked stick on the DC or XBox version you could simply have some LEDs on a strip stuck along the bottom of the monitor which light up as and when inputs are made.
Just a thought.

Nintendo has snubbed the loyal band first to take the DS home by releasing a new, improved model,...N64 was the only console in the Japanese giant's history to escape the makeover.
