Myself and JibberX went New York queuing, Wii style, for the midnight launch at Toys 'r' Us. We came back happy.

Here are pictures of people queuing for Wii in New York over the launch weekend -
Friday 17th:

21:07 - a huge Wii advert at Toys 'r' Us!
Saturday 18th:

08:48 - Nintendo World, not too bad.

08:52 - Oh, the queue is here. These guys have been here for days...

15:15 - I'M IN UR NYC STEALIN' UR BANDWIDTH

17:43 - Toys 'r' Us, more than six hours to go and it's completely rammed.

22:48 - all the way around the block, some 5,000 people (and even more are turned away).

01:03 - We're round the corner! Different things to stare at!
Sunday 19th:

16:48 - The next afternoon, and NW still has 2-3 hour queues.

16:49 - ... as well as piles and piles of Wii!

17:19 - No change at TrU, it's rammed with people and Wiis.
Monday 20th:

12:52 - Monday at NW, and still people are waiting to buy.

13:16 - Back at TrU, a continuing Wii fenzy.

13:15 - PS3 demo pods keep company of discarded Wii packaging.

I'M IN UR NYC STEALIN' UR BANDWIDTH
LOL!
Blud that's too much, it's sick you managed to bag what you did braving those crowds - I couldnt hack it.

Can i jus add that you neednt have queued up? Cos i went back on lanunch day at around 6pm and they still had a shed load of em. Great pics man, reminds me of my trip and my first ever launch purchase lol!
Out of curiosity, did you feel nervous coming back through customs?

Which queue where?
The Toys R Us one?
Were you rolling your eyes at all my hillarious jokes?
Well, i was in the Toys R Us one for like 5 mins then the guy working there tells me that they have more than enough for sale and that i should go home and get some sleep and come back at lunch time tommorow cos they had like 3500 in stock with an additional 7000 if needs be. Yeah i was shocked to hear this too. Dunno if he was exagerating it a lil. But the next day i went shopping at an outlet store and came back aorun 6pm to pick one up and literally walked in and out, only place i queued was at the till lol. I was limited to 2 per customer, but i was with like 4 other peeps so i could have well killed it lol! But im not really into this selling for profit stuff, and well was jus happy to have my own copy, cos thats all i needed lol. I was amazed at how straight forward it all was. A couple of days b4 launch i saw peeps camped out for days on end. One guy had been there for 10 days prior! What an idiot! It was my first launch purchase and probably the most fun ive had. I didnt take part in any of the pre launch festivities but that didnt really interest me lol.
I must have walked past you guys im sure. You should have had an open sense banner up or something lol would have come over and showed some luv!
So about customs/imigration at the airport, did you get through ok?

Yeah, we were constantly told they had tonnes of the buggers. But we went for the joy of queuing... we had no real numbers... there was a good vibe going on. And the possibility of getting shot was too good to miss.
We saw some folks with loads of them... this was the day after, we popped into Toys just to see the deal, thats when Paper got that Wii rubbish zone around the PS3s. We might've been allowed to get 4 each?
Had to do a "queue" once in my life.
Not wanting to implicate myself to Her Majesties Government... but Paper was gagging for a smoke so much, that we wandered gracefully though customs. I didn't get a wink of sleep so I was past caring.
hahaha.......... glad to hear it mate. Its nice when things come together. those stories about peeps getting shot circulated very quick, especially with peeps queuing up. Although this is my first launch purchasei dont think ill be doing it again, waiting in the cold is jus not for me ( i know i didnt wait but still the thought of it) Bbbbrrrrrrrrr...........
Yeah customs in manchester was very relaxed. Heh, i went to game stop and asked the fat owner behind the counter about my chances of getting a wii on launch, and he laughed in my face. Told me that Toys R Us would have any left either. What a wanker man. Well, we showed him lol.
Did you get any freebies for queuing up? I heard they would be giving stuff away from a spotty geek waiting in line.

I read about a week ago that people have been queuing up every day at about 4am for Nintendo World and Toys 'r' Us to buy Wiis, and both were getting restocks every day.
That has been about for a month, solid.
... and it was really, badly, cold. We queued a little earlier than expected, I only had a slim jacket and a t-shirt. I had to pounce on all the freebies (hats, t shirts) so I didn't freeze to death
