There's a whole lot of stuff going on there.

I was wondering how they were going to present all the Virtual Console stuff. The listing on L!ve is quite terrible.

Unsure about the online content stuff... I suppose its easy to do if the console is online anyways.

I guess its a flight to Canada November 19th then.

Just to also clarify in that Wii game video, there's a few new Nintendo IP's tucked away.

The first being Forever Blue, Hajimete no Wii (table tennis, shooting, pool, fishing and some more) and Wii Big Brain Academy.

That video made me smile - cant wait to get my hands on this machine! Dunno which version to go for.....might have to endure the extra time and get the Japanese version.

NEED a Euro launch date bad - RGB is still my only display option so I need to get hold of a cable.

Quick check tells me that any major city on the east coast of america is about £300 return... its an option... but lets see if Nintendo Europe sort it out first.

Uploading your avatar to your Wii Remote is pretty classy.

And to geek out, I'm glad they've gone with (-) and (+) buttons, those other ones circulating were a bit guff. Obviously, the iconography and design is vital to gameplay.

Btw table tennis and boxing looks savage, I can't wait to rinse them. Also Project Hammer I'm the only person excited by that title, I'm excited to see how they're gonna execute the Wiimote functions into an all out action title.

In that game trailer there's a puzzle title created by Compile, I thought they were finished?!?

I gotta say I was disappointed in em' not showing off the GT Pro title, I wanna see that running.

its freaking region free people

Quote:

"Will the Wii be region-free? Yes. Like the Nintendo DS, the Wii will be able to play games from other regions, such as Japan, without any restriction. Kaplan implied there might be a region lock that publishers would be able to flip on, but it doesn't sound like the first-party titles from Nintendo will be restricted. "

It's a little bundle of joy that machine! Laughing out loud

Nintendo love us all just as much as Capcom love ME! I just found a massive Dragon Punch in Godhand which made me jump about the room. XD

European launch date December 8 2006, priced at £179 (249 Euros). Package will include console, Wiimote, nunchuck, cables and all that jazz. Oh and Wii Sports. Er, games will cost £35 - £39 in the UK and 49-59 Euros elsewhere.

I'm gonna get the Japanese machine, then I wont have to endure composite for long until the UK/Euro
release and RGB cableness!

At least its THIS YEAR. And we appear to be getting the same games as USofA.

Early adoption issues as usual.

No point in making another Wii thread, but Capcom's next installment of Sengoku Basara will be heading to the PS2 and the Wii Tongue

Hopefully if this is done right and sells, we could see a wave of these action-brawling style games on the Wii Wink

My First Wii? Is that a real title? The mind boggles hehe.

To my knowledge I dont think it's a launch title, all the sites I've looked at have placeholder dates, hope that helps.

I've had too many wet dreams thinking about drumming along to Perfect Dark themes. The worst part is it's never going to happen. Soooooo......

I've spent serious hours staying behind at work so I can practice on the electric drum kits LOUD in order to learn from scratch how to maintain the rhythm with my four limbs so I can emulate that sampled drum goodness. I can play a few of the tunes but keeping the high-hats gentle on some of the covert music is tough stuff when you're being heavy footed on the bass drum.

I'd love to get into a covers band that plays the best of in-game themes. Forget all that FF/Zelda bollocks that's so popular with folks (that's been overkilled, and will continue to be necro-bummed with Wii Orchestra (still getting it Wink - hoping for some dark, moody Metroid bits)) I'm talking obsolete stuff that only a few of us pick up on. Laughing out loud Unfortunately I can't play guitar, drum, and play 2/3 keyboards all at once.

Now that Nintendo Europe have put the dampener on regionlessness, what to do eh?

US import is kind of a no brainer now, but I had all sorts of grief getting hold of a DS on launch. I've not done videogamesplus for hardware, but tronix and ncsx have always been good to me. ncsx tend to avoid console lauches though, at least they did with the 360.

I'm going to keep an eye on tronix - anyone got better suggestions? :s

I really don't know what I'm doing. I know I'm not pre-ordering as I don't know where I'll be when it comes out. I'm pretty sure there won't be a shortage however. I've asked someone to pre-order me a US console but I doubt I'll get anywhere with that.

I shouldn't be thinking about games at all if my plans are successful - as I'll be too busy in a totally new career. Sod that though. Laughing out loud On the other hand it may be beneficial waiting to find out about which cable's best (I can't touch composite, I'd rather play blindfolded) and all the regionness of the online bits.

I have a plan.

Stop me when you think its wierd.

I'm going to continue anyways.

Stage 1.
Dress up as Optimus Prime (1st Gen)

Stage 2.
Get on flight to New England, United States of Flab

Stage 3.
Purchase a floatilla of Wii

Stage 4.
Subtly craft the Wii boxes into the previously seen and legitamised Optimus Prime costume

Stage 5.
Get arrested by Michael Bay

Stage 6.
Be forced to watch Pearl Harbo(u)r

Stage 7.
Escape in an elaborate CGI car chase

Stage 8.
Completely miss the point of what I started with

Stage 9.
Conclude with happy ending and plenty of Wii

I'm going to teach little kiddies not only the English language, but the greatness of Perfect Dark 64.

I'm going to join the Communist Party and rear my little minions up through the ranks. When I'm rich enough I will be known as dictatorDave and change the Chinese flag to the dataDyne logo. I will then go to war with the US so that I can destroy Microsoft and take back Rare. I'd then slave-drive them into being good again.

Not a bad 12-month plan I don't think. Much more realistic than Jib's CGI fest.

Quality, props to you sir. That sounds like an awesome 12 months you've got laid out infront of you. Best of luck.

China already rules the world though (people just haven't realised it yet).

BBC news
Nintendo has snubbed the loyal band first to take the DS home by releasing a new, improved model,...N64 was the only console in the Japanese giant's history to escape the makeover.

Saurian, do you think the UK RGB cable will work with the Japanese console? This is a major issue for me, as my TV cannot do NTSC, and my only option is RGB >.<

Squarepusher

I don't think we'll know until it actually gets released.

UK RGB cable doesn't work on an ntsc Cube, if thats any indicator. I thought we'd end up with a component only Wii, but I read that an RGB cable has shown up on a online shops.

Papercut

Papercut's picture

Posted: Wed, 04/10/2006 - 19:43

True, but then Lik Sang (who are offering an RGB cable) have also stated that you'll be offered a choice of US, UK or Japanese Wii when the time draws near, so it could be a European cable they'll be selling.

Squarepusher

Squarepusher's picture

Posted: Wed, 04/10/2006 - 21:10

From what I can tell from the pics (and there aint much to go on) is that it's an extension of what they did with the Cube; put the relevant component inside the cable you buy instead of the machine.

I reckon that all 3 regions share the same AV output so we'll be OK for RGB when they release their official cable.

But if it's an extension of what they did with the Cube, wouldn't that mean that the offical UK RGB cable wouldn't work with an NTSC/J machine (as happened with the GCN)? I'm probably being thick here...

Squarepusher

Squarepusher's picture

Posted: Thu, 05/10/2006 - 13:18

Yep! Tongue

It's not the standard Nintendo AV port on the Wii, nor is it the Cube's digital AV out. It's a hybrid of the two which most likely outputs a component signal - which will be converted over to analogue the same way as it is on the Cube via the chip inside the cable.

This is a whole new port - whether or not the UK Cube's RGB cable works with a Japanese machine is irrelevant.

Freaky new AV connections are all part of the Wii buzz eh.

Lets hope we can get some VGA action from these.

I've not seen a list of Japanese cables yet... but then I haven't looked...

Whats that wacky d-sub type component cable they use, or has that been phased out?

JibberX

JibberX's picture

Posted: Thu, 05/10/2006 - 13:59

They're still using the D Terminal cable in Japan,

If anything we'll be able to make a VGA cable out of an official cable D Terminal cable, should be able to tap the V and H sync same way as per the Cube.

The AV port outputs composite, S-Video and component on the US and JPN region machine. It makes no sense to change this output for the UK machine by revising the board when you can convert the Component signal to analogue RGB via a cable you charge extra for.

I strongly feel the official RGB cable will work on all regions.
