Just buy it!

http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5677.html

LOOOOL CHOON.

Been playing the new "RMX" rules set of this on and offline, and it's so wierd seeing old characters being used in more effective and dangerous ways with the new moves, properties and balancing they've done.

Not come across anything broken like Ken's dragon punch juggle (R.I.P...should have kept it!) but characters like Fei Long, Zangief, Hawk have had some of their more complex moves made simpler to execute. Allowing more people to able to pull them off and be more succesfull in using these characters.

SPD are now HCB-F and Punch, Fei's axe kicks are just QCF. Even other characters like Guile has had his flash kicks vary range and height based on what kick you use. Was dazzled when I first used it!

Sagat is horrible, you can chain in 2 tiger knees after an initial one if i remember correctly. Can't tag a super on the end of it though, that would have been ultra dirty!

But the worst of all is Honda. They've given his LP headbutt the ability to go through fireballs. ;\/ BUT...they've taken away his positioning after his 360 throw. (Throw where he choke slams, and then sits on your head. Lands right next your mangled body ready for either hundred hand slap chip damage or another tick command throw.) Man that crap was annoying! He's still strong though...too strong!

I love how they've not wrecked tactics of ST, but they've tried to bring other characters up a notch.

Best thing about the whole thing...the netcode is so brilliant, it's obscene! I've played online fighters for years and you can really tell the difference with this game. Thank God Capcom listened to it's fans in first making this RMX version and secondly going to the guys at GGPO and licensing their netcode! They are gonna use it for SFIV too, wooo!

Ranking mode is full of shit though. Beat loads of people with my ghetto Dhalsim when they were Akuma and get dropped on. Much more fun to jump into a random Player match. No score or ranked wins for people to try and protect! Take the beats, TAKE THEM AND LEARN I say.

ADD ME! XBL: S1ngho

I know it's only gonna be Saur, Spaggers or Emir who've bought this here, I wants match ups!

Sorry Singho I should have remembered to give you a shout. I've been playing this loads, but it's the PS3 version I've got. Only issue I'm having is that fucking awful Hori Fighting Stick 3 I'm using, the stick is HORRID! I dunno what the deal is...it feels fine, but it just doesn't listen - even simple fireball/dragon motions don't respond.

I'm using Uncle Zangles and Guile at the moment, hooked up randomly against some really good players online after sifting through the cowardly, braindead minions. Honda though, Honda is TEEF!!! I've played against a lot of people who just spam his headbutt thinking it will work. It's so bait, so old, so predicatble...it's like time-travelling back to 1993...

The netcode is some sort of witchcraft, SF4 is going to be da shit online!

I hovered over a purchase, but the demo was appalling in how crippled they'd made it. The presentation and soundtrack also seemed a bit off to me.

I'm still in two minds, but intrigued by the net code, might give it a shot...

Get it on 360 too Saur! You've got a Hori 360 stick, should have been an instant purchase!

The original soundtrack is available to select from the options, but I like some of the remixed versions from the OC RMX tribute album.

There is still the odd glitch with the game, don't get me wrong. Play the game long enough, energy bars, rounds won all go to shit. Atleast the actual game plays smooth, this minor stuff can be sorted out with a patch.

If you do get it Paper, send us an invite. I'm sure you are on my FL, but not seen you online in months.

I get the energy bars/rounds glitch a lot, it's interesting though...challenging people without being able to see how much energy you actually have left makes for an interesting match.

I aint buying a Live account man, they can GTF if they think I'm paying them just for the "privilege" of challenging whining scrubs.

I'm so shit it's unbelievable - how I wish it was 15 years ago & I had some skills.

I've come up against some Zangiefs who are beasts, Hondas who are monsters & a Vega who pummelled me stupid. Everyone else has been Ken, Ryu or Akuma so it's been a fireball/dragon punch trapathon.

You need to embrace the power of YOGA.

Fireballs are faster then most characters, you might have trouble battling against Sagat, but his fireballs are good to keep people at distance. His HK drill can be cancelled in quick sucession with a jump and best of all...lk slide into yoga nugi\throw SKANK DEALS! I LOVE IT!

Then you've got all his mind games with his attacks that hit under fireballs, and reach the other side of the screen. Hold back and the attack to get a close variation and then neutral or forward for the long range versions. Mixing it up between the two puts a false sense of distance into your opponents head.

That or learn Balrog. BEAST. His reach is rediculous, his headbutt grab lets you walk underneath at the end of it, and lets you throw out a light attack and then back into the grab, his charge down\up+P headbutt lets you fly through fireballs.

Holding PPP\KKK lets you charge up a massive turn punch which can even connect through fireballs, and best of all...his Super has some of the best block damage and strength in the whole game. Hit once with that, forget about it.

Saur, I'll send you a 3 month code!

I had to resort to mega-scrub tactics to win a ranked match last night - 2 rounds all & neither player with any energy left; jab Sonic Boom, follow it up whilst it's blocked then suplex.

I feel bad.

Well I've played SFA a little bit on CPS2 and really enjoyed it. Only against AI mind. I had a little love affair with KOF98 a couple of years back too. Currently I'm still mashing it up in Bleach Blade of Fate, which I still maintain is a phenominal little brawler. I'm slightly shocked at the lack of love it's getting tbh.

The problem I have is I've never been able to properly get into a system and start to experiment with combos. I'm more of a spam with the specials kind of guy and small chain combos. I can go down easily against button mashers and I missed out on the schooling against human opponents first time around, which is a bloody crime as my friends used to play the super famicom versions religiously. All I could do was fire up Chuni and spam them with the lighning kick and foot stomp Sad

I caved in and DLed this yesterday having only played SFII in the arcades and on the SNES like a lifetime ago, however I could tell that Chun Li lightening Kicks have been made easier to get going but don't seem to deal as much hurt as before and they changed the Spinning Bird Kick (BLATES). I have no skills at all - can anybody school me on what moves go together well for combos and any advice on doing her Super would be much appreciated! Whats with all the frame counting I hear about, can you cancel moves in this game?

You want to get started by learning how to make use of just the regular attacks first of all. Jump in with a hard-punch then throw a standing hard-punch, this is a simple 2-hit combo. Alternate the opening and second strikes with different attacks to see what you can get to work, a medium sweep for example will combo after a deep enough jumping attack.
NEVER overuse her Hundred-Foot-Kick, this is a big mistake beginners make when they play SF - NOBODY will fall for this! Only use a move like this when it's guaranteed to take damage (for example when an opponent is stunned) or you are using it to punish a blocking opponent trapped in the corner, use the medium or hard-kick version as you can snap back to neutral quickly.

It depends on the character you're playing when it comes to chaining certain regular attacks together so I won't go into it, you need to look at it case by case as there is no universal chain-combo system.

In SF the frame cancelling is where you interrupt the ending frames of a regular attack into a special, for example with Ryu and Ken the classic one is where you throw a standing hard-punch (up close) and interrupt it with a Dragon Punch.

With Chun Li you might want to get used to throwing her Fireball (Kikouken) out of a standing medium-punch (up close), then when you get used to that have a look to see what other attacks you can interrupt with it.

With charge characters (Guile, Blanka and Chun Li for example) there is a nice little nuance where you can interrupt a standing attack with a downwards charged special. An easy example with Guile is that you can combo his Flash Kick out of a standing attack. The Flash Kick is (down for 2 seconds then up+kick) - the trick is to crouch next to an opponent and charge the 2 seconds, release down, hit hard punch then immediately hit up+kick. You're slotting a move in the neutral position between down & up and the game allows it.

This also works with Chun Li's charge down - up+kick special.

Chun Li's Super Move is charge back (2 seconds) then hit forward-back-forward+and kick. The forward-back-forward part of the command must be a single, smooth, fast continuous motion. Train up on issuing commands fast, there is no command speed limit as long as you are accurate.

MORE CHALLENGES!

SPAG, GET ON IT!

SAUR...WHERE YOU GO!?

Also...I'm really tired and really don't want to repeat over old ground for what Saur said...so just take what he said and add this.

Chun Li's...AIR LIGHT KICKS...ARE GODLY. Throw those fuckers out and you will gaurantee to stuff\beat out any other attack apart from an anti air attack in full flow. Her standing MP is dirty as you can carry on walking right after you hit someone in block and throw them just as they recover. Her throws are dirty, so dirty that you will need to take a shower after playing as her.

As for her spinnign bird kicks...don't bother with them. Fireballs, medium punch spam into throw and mid air light kicks to go into any of the above shit.

Her super also goes through fireballs. Learn to remember this fact NOW.

Thanks guys, I think the charge for 2 seconds is where I've been going wrong - will keep practicing the SUPER and try some of the other meths you discuss - shame about the Spinning bird kick being rubbish as I love doing that cos its so easy, I'll just switch over to fireballs instead (love the way she pokes out that arse!)

I was bussin Chun's SUPER last night, but I'm still struggling with the charge part of this. I can only do specials and SUPER if I'm against the wall. The thought of doing a super out of an attack just seems impossible to me right now. I shall keep practicing though, hopefully this stuff will help me when SFIV drops.

Bear in mind that 'charging' back or down counts with diagonals aswell.

Like for example Chunner's Super can be performed from crouch, so the motion would be;

Charge down-back (2 seconds) > then hit forward-back-forward+and kick.

Another exercise to try is to start the charge as soon as you jump forwards. Throw a jumping attack deep into the opponent, then follow it up with 2 or 3 crouching light attacks before throwing the Super. This will get you used to throwing it faster while crouching so that you don't need to move the character backwards while charging.

Also keep in mind that the 'neutral' stick position that occurs between the 'charge' and the 1st 'forward' is a gap you can slot an attack into. Leave this till later but at some point have a go at slotting a light or medium punch into this gap. Same thing works for all charged attacks whether it's a downwards charge or a backwards.

This is how you do a "Standing Flashkick" with Guile, you charge down then release to neutral > hard punch > up + Kick to complete the Flash Kick command.

Yeah man - there's 3 points there;

1. While charging, as long as you are contacting the direction you need to charge in you can use other directions too. So if you want to charge 'back', you can move to (diagonal back down) or (diagonal back up) as you like without losing the charge. For charging 'down' (diagonal down back) and (diagonal down forward) are both valid as per the above.

2. Holding a direction to 'charge' is independent of button presses. So for example while charging 'down' you can keep throwing light punches until the two seconds are up then hit up+kick. Notice how people use Guile, look at how players use light attacks to keep the pressure on the opponent while 'charging' - once you get the hang of it the charge should be invisible.

3. The 'neutral' position after the charge direction before the next stick position allows for an attack to be slotted into it. So for Chun-Li and example will be 'charge' down-back (2 seconds) > neutral+medium punch > up+kick.

This is a crouching guard > standing medium punch > Tenshōkyaku special move. During the crouching guard you can still input strikes as you like, just make sure it's nothing which will push either you or the opponent away.

Even with the RAINBOWHOUND looking over my shoulder, I still couldn't make it through Easy without continuing. First it was Cammy, who kicked my head pretty much right in for ages, then it was Blanka, who would just walk over and chew on my head while I was charging. I know I can attack while charging but as soon as I see the SUPER bar is full I get all over excited and my head explodes.

The good news is that I've settled into a snuggly little guard/charge groove from which I can defend and throw fireballs mixed up with bird kicks and Supers. Its clicked and its beautiful. Now I need to work out some combos so I can bring some offensive shit on foolz.

Got the achievement for finishing with a Super which made me feel a temperary twinge of HERONESS!!!XD

Had a go with EHonda and his diving headbuttz is a bit cheap innit? Is that the easiest move in the whole game?

Corrected.

My character selection on SF4 is going to come down to who can do suplexes or not. That MMA guy is looking buff in that particular department going off the intro vid.

Sorry I didn't play longer man, my 'X' button is fucked after me lending out my 360 for 9months and I hate the pad anyway, I was beginning to doubt the game for not playing like it used to but I'm putting that down to the stinky pad entirely.
