I like the occasional interesting puzzle game. Always been sort of interested in the concept of Scribblenauts, then Super Scribblenauts suddenly appeared "fixing" the last or first game.

So I picked it up and it works exactly how you think it should work, and is an interesting and clever technical exercise.

The game format is... write words to create things to complete the objectives. The way the things you write about appear and work is pretty impressive and some of the levels have a nice if almost linear thought process.

Some game modes, of which there are several takes on the same thing ask you to match two items... so a Brontosaur and a Giraffe... so I thought, ok, walking lampost... that was too weird for it, so fair enough, but it made a walking lamppost which in itself was bizarre... it sort of jiggled and fell over.

Anyways its a curious vocab test, and I am the sort of guy that was never really taught and never really spent the time to understand language theory, i.e. I don't know or care what an adjective is, so I have a bit of a learning curve there in itself.

Worth a punt for those who want a puzzler that doesn't involve cubes.

I've always been put off by the less than glowing reviews. As I understand it the first game was broken as there were a couple of objects that pretty much fixed any situation and you could spawn as many as you liked? Dunno maybe I've got that wrong.

I imagine it's fun to explore the dictionary of objects in the game. Not sure how you build a decent puzzle game out of that though, which is my primary concern.

I thought it was only me who had trouble with adjectives, pronouns etc. I do know what an adjective is though, so I'm +1 on you Tongue

This is speculation, but I think the first one was more in the guise of a typical platformer where you could use stuff you wrote down... hence the using wings to get everywhere. This format is very much a puzzle game, where it simply tests your vocab, knowledge and ability to think like the developer.

I am stuck on one level where you have to name 7 or 10 things in a Zombie film, with adjectives... zombie toaster worked, cheerleader worked, then I got stuck trying to make something to do with chainsaws work.
