OOoooo sparkly. Interesting panning going on there in some of the sections. Don't recall seeing that done to such a high degree before. Sword attack is pure Radiant Silvergun though yeah
This is out tomorrow globally on XBLA for 800 MSP.
Looks (and sounds!) fucking awesome
Globally!! O_O - OMFG! I'm SO in!
2:09 into that first vid my ears went - BOOOOOOM!!!
I miss my 360 solely because of XBL Arcade. There's already about 45 years worth of stuff for me to play through on there.
Just been playing this, it's properly boss. Initially simple controls but with layers to the weapon usage. You can equip multiple weapons on pickup (think Einhander) and then you have a beam sword for melee. Works really well. Makes sense with all the Radiant Silvergun references the team made prior to release.
Nice touch is the 3D crosshair that marks the player's mecha position despite all the camera movement. They sync it up to the mecha's visor too, which is cool.
Music is also awesome and more than a bit Panzer Dragoon-tastic.
I'll be dl this later then
Can't wait to get this when I return to the Manor.
I do a fair bit of complaining about the general quality of games these days, but given my schedule there is an absolute pile of stuff out there that I'll never have the time to touch. I'm hardly even playing the small collection of win I've rebuilt thus far.
Must get back to S+P2. PSP Tactics Ogre is a MASSIVE distraction.
This is a bit good isn't it?
I really like the clever little trick they've got going with weapon pickups. The arm the collected weapon is assigned to is determined by the direction from which you collect the weapon. So if you want to swap out the right arm weapon you collect the weapon with the right side of the mecha, and vice-versa for left.
Weapons make a massive difference to how a stage plays, and the stages are brilliant in that they are condensed bite-sized chunks of game which you can train up on individually. I've been camping out of Stage 3 where you have to protect those huge ally ships from damage. I've bumped it up to Hard Mode too as Normal is blatantly the game's "Easy" setting, you're missing half the shot patterns unless you play on Hard.
Equipping 2 swords is all kinds of disgusting! The final slash of the combo deflects shots I swear!
This game looked like it came from treasure which is definatley a good thing in my book. How is the scoring in this game anything to get your teeth into or is it just pure try for 1cc. Might pick this up i hate download only stuff i just have the fear that once the next gen of systems come out they wont support your old stuff you downloaded and if the ticking time bomb 360 implodes you will be up shit creek without a paddle .
I have some points left over from buying shudder inducing sonic 4 over so i will probally get it tonight whats 800 points 6 pound which is pretty resonable.
Haven't committed to a full purchase yet, but the demo is damned good. Like you say it has a real Treasure feel to it.
