By far the best thing shown at the MS conf in my opinion...

Oh man! This setting already feels VERY grim! Angry hostiles in an African city, scythes, machetes and heat. That Zombie on his back looked quite freaky. o_O
One of the mad things about Resident Evil 4, was the perception that the enemies were working togeather by shouting and communicating with eachother. I know it's only a short trailer, but they REALLY look ready for a ruck on this!
The mob looks to be in proper RIOT mode!
Just imagine the village in Res 4, if there was constant shouting and full on active "zombies" heckling, jeering and projecting MORE grief. The "zombies" in this make the dudes in Res 4 look like a bunch of shambling fools! and they were pretty nimble and fast on their feet!
I'm reading too much into this footage, watched it like 10 times already...can't wait for the full one on 26th July. SOLD.

Cool, but I think the PS3 Biohazard 5 trailer is cooler, just because it hammers home the transition from darkened interiors to sun soaked exterior locales. Either way this is looking good. I wonder if people will miss the immediacy of the Wii controls though?
That looks very interesting and is NOT a setting I was expecting in the slightest. Wonder if there'll be any political/racial undertones to the story or if Capcom just picked Africa because it was a bit different. I'm hoping for the former personally; the zombie genre has always been used as a form of social commentary and there's no reason why games should be any different.
That's not to say that I'm not looking forward to the new gameplay opportunities too - the play between light and shadow looks to have enormous potential - but Resident Evil has always been as much about its story as its gameplay for me.
ghghgh
Not sure what you're getting at there, mate although I assume that a few forumites have been making racist comments about the setting. I can assure you that isn't what I intended and I am in no way trying to be "clever".
Nevertheless, Capcom has picked the setting for a reason and I think it will be interesting to see where they take the game, thematically, when the full product finally arrives next year.
Just to skew the thread a bit... I've not seen the vid, so I wont make any generalisations...
BUT, its almost 100% obvious to me that Microsoft are either dropping the 360 / never going to have another console what a terrible idea ever again weren't we stupid.
The Games for Windows idea, with Viva Pinata and Gears of War en route under that brand, and a potential install base of 98% of the planet, why make your own hardware, when the planet already has half of it under their desk?
Just have an Xbox 360 PC spec... make use of the inherent scalability of the DirectX stuff, and I dunno, maybe make the Xbox 360 peripherals work on the PC, oh wait.
So I can see the next "Xbox" being a spec, or just a more formal PC, like the original Xbox, with the DirectX API all working proper like... it was always a bit wierd they went PowerPC with the 360 tbh.
I'm all for political rumination, but I can see RE5 taking that as a starting point and then going straight back to Umbrella - I wouldn't expect any serious commentary.
The setting of RE4 was very peculiar wasn't it, Spanish parasite-invested yokels, but supposedly not set in Spain. They could have set it anywhere rural though, I get the feeling whatever the reason for the setting that part of the plot was never really bothered with.
I think you're missing the point that MS want you're living room just as Sony do. It's a race to see who can provide the ultimate entertainment hub. Unfortunately they've both failed with this generation. Ironically I think the winner will probably come from outside the main camp eventually. It needs an ipod like product to capture the market, not the overly complex behemoths that Sony and Microsoft are pimping.
Back On topic, I'm loving the choice of setting, but then I love Africa, so I'm sold.

EEEP, that was not directed at you mate. >_< Just been browsing some new forums this past week seeing if i can find some E3 stuff, and came across the usual "look at me being crass and edgy" type posts when the trailer hit. Was just ranting... ;\/ Totally flew over my head what you was talking about.
Back to the game...Capcom do it again. Just a simple little trailer getting me all bothered and excited.
AFAIK, Capcom will have their own show at E3 this week right? Just like how Konami will have one? Would really like to see some more DMC4 and especially as I'm an SF whore, the Super Street Fighter II HD Remix with artwork from the comic dudes Udon.
I havent been paying much attention to the E3 - I've had a couple of looks at the news but when faced with nothing but screenshots of FPS games my interest totally dies.
This though - this is gonna be class!
- I'm all over the RE4 mechanics and am looking forward to seeing where they take the series next.

Gotta admit though there is definatley something fresh and exciting about this latest offering....... who would have funk it that even in the bright of day, you can feel the tense nature of deadly zombies chasing you etc......... definatly trys new things and what im most curious about is the new behavioral pattern of the friendly neighbourhood zombies......

The new trailer up on the Market Place!!!1 OMFGZ!!1
Looks like I joined the LIVE crew just at the right time. It looked fucking luverly on my tele.
Face planting counterattacks and all round crowd bustin' moves. It looks sooooooo intense too.
This game....... YES PLEASE!!1
:jawdrop:
Here's a link to the trailer for people without a 360:

The village was such a small part of the game in Resi 4, if they can recreate that tension over an entire massive scale city with nowhere to hide from these beasts.... ;\/
RE4 is definatley being used as a basis for 5 in terms of control and viewpoint, but whats getting me pumped is that as RE4 imo was such a fantastic game, how the hell are they gonna take that and improve it?
For example, at first it looked like the villagers behaved the same way by grouping up and walking towards you, but then it showed some of them acting much differently to what we saw in Resident Evil 4. Running from a mile off, launching and spearing themselves at you and just generally being far much more aggressive. Much like the Dawn of the Dead remake with proper mental fools going at top speed and venom!
When Chris shot the dude down, everyone from behind started to throw their weapons at him, not just the odd one! Man, there was tons of enemies walking down that little hill, and all Chris had was a pistol! I can feel the stress already! Can't wait!
Also, did everyone notice that Chris can now walk back while aiming? Chris was also evading close quarter attacks and I think that punch was Chris's version of Leon's context sensative kick. Still hoping for some hand to hand combat in future videos...HANG ON...I just thought of somthing...GOD HAND DODGING?!?!?!!? THAT WOULD BE FUCKING 1333333337! :jawdrop:
I can't wait to see all the fine tuning and revisions they have made for this engine, and if theres one company who knows how to expand and improve upon games it's Capcom.
Also, it seeems like the girl at the end of the trailer could be Sherry.
Check out Chris's 20 inch pythons!!!!! BEAST!
Rah!!1 O_o - infact hang on;
It's like they're letting you play Krauser in the main game....it's gonna get messy!

Indeed!
Noticing the light effects in the trailer when Chris enters that shack. I bet there'll be some proper big scares in this because you're focusing your eyes, then - BAM!!!!11
I love that gif - you can see some next zombie climbing up on the right >_< Plus the way the rest of the pack fall backwards, you gonna have to punch goons into the rest VJ STYLE!!!!!111!!!1111!!1
Maybe not... LULz!

I FUCKING CALLED THIS SHIT!

If it wasn’t for the new features the game would read like a massive re-skinning job, but thanks to the inclusion of God Hand’s dodging abilities and a [="#FF0000"]fully integrated online co-op story [/]there’s enough on the new features front to avoid those damning accusations of cashing in on the same idea.
GOD HAND DODGING!!!! I called that shit! ^_^
Online co-op story, didn't expect that tbh.
It all depends on whether you’re Player Two or not. Joining Chris’ fight is a new female character. Now that Chris has a partner he needs to keep in constant touch. He has both a Bluetooth headset (and phone) and a walkie-talkie; one is for chatting with the female mercenary and the other for speaking to the outside BSAA contact, Metal Gear Solid codec style. Currently nameless, the mercenary’s inclusion means that, for the first time, you’ll be able to tackle a true Resident Evil game co-operatively online. Like Gears, the entirety of Resident Evil 5 features jump in/jump out gameplay with the AI taking over the reigns of our mysterious female mercenary when you’re playing alone.
New to Resident Evil 5’s combat system is the ability to lock to a wall and fire around the corner.
With all this excitement it’s easy to forget the rest of the package. Resident Evil 5 doesn’t just feature a story; there’s the returning Mercenaries minigame and a whole host of other extras that are still safely under wraps. We’ll admit to being just a wee bit concerned when it was revealed Shinji Mikami would not be heading up the production of Resident Evil 5, but in spite of this loss on the development team the game is looking like the ultimate game of the series.
Man, just thinking about how rediculous the God Hand dodging in this game will be is making my face hurt grinning. On God Hand on the PS2, using the Right stick you could bob and weave, back flip and dash to the left and right. If you timed it right, you could slip straight by an attack and follow up with your own by pressing up. Vertical attacks you would dodge by pressing up, horizontal attacks by dodging to the side and retreating using the back flip (also allowed you to pass through special attacks).
I'm just thinking that in Resi 5, they will probably do away with the side step and give you control as to where to dodge and weave and then, allow you to GRAND UPPER any poor fucker in the jaw that stumbled in your way.
I've always wanted to punch a zombie in the face in a Resident Evil game. Resi 4 satisfied that contact lust with the QTEs, hopefully with this new system it will allow you to deliver some brutal bombs to the face and head area as you make your way through the game.
Mercenaries is back!?!?!?!?!
I just died and went to heaven.
It's great news ain't it? I'm still reeling from the talk of the God Hand dodging.
New CAPtivate08 Trailer.

Do you reckon those "Las plagas" type things shooting out of the faces was intended to be in there before all the uproar about the setting of this game? Never noticed it at all in the previous trailers.
Game looks mental as ever, loving all of the close quarters combat stuff with FISTS and a blade! Chris with those hulking great pythons BEST BE ABLE TO STEAL THAT HEFTY 2 METRE CHAINSAW. XD Fuck, I can just imagine Chris in the centre of a square, just doing lariats with one.
MEATY punch there. All it needs is a little jump and a "Tiger uppercut".wav
The earlier trailers were extremely early - never in the Biohazard/Resident Evil games have you ever been expected to kill normal humans, ofcourse they would end up being zombies/mutants/parasite infected things regardless of what the ignorant twats on the internet bitch about.
Chris is fucking HENCH!!! I thought they would tone it down a bit after Leon Kennedy being a one-man-army, same like DMC3; they'll NEVER give you a Dante that powerful ever again. Looks like I'm wrong though, Chris is a monster!
