Has anyone felt compelled to buy a console just for a single title? Like currently I yearn for a Sega CD just for Snatcher, PC-Engine for Star Parodia and a SNES for The Fireman. Am I just going crazy or does anyone else feel this way?
Purchasing consoles just for a game

Has anyone felt compelled to buy a console just for a single title? Like currently I yearn for a Sega CD just for Snatcher, PC-Engine for Star Parodia and a SNES for The Fireman. Am I just going crazy or does anyone else feel this way?
I bought a PlayStation 2 for this...
Boy, did I feel stupid.
Not really, but I probably wouldn't have gone multiplatform were it not for Sega ditching the hardware game. It's usually a Sega game or a number of Sega games that tips me over the edge and forces me into a console purchase.
I'm desperately hoping the 360 drops in price before one of those must have Sega first party titles appears.
Oh wait hang on a mo. I purchased a NUON for Tempest3000

Nothing odd about that, I thought that's how it was meant to work? I didn't buy an Xbox for anything other than OutRun2. And the PS2 only got bought for Winning Eleven.
Never bought a Megadrive, although they almost released Elite for it, that would've tipped the balance since the NES version was so great.
Most of the other consoles I bought had more than one title I was interested in from the get go.
...I also bought my Xbox for this...
A considerably more worthwhile purchase. Possibly one of the greatest games I've ever played too.
Xbox for Halo.
Gamecube for Super Monkey Ball.
Chipped Dreamcast for US Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
N64 for Goldeneye.
So, yeah, you're not odd.
Standard practice - I dont buy a machine until there's something I cant live without on it. Call me weird as much as you like but consoles themselves dont excite me in the slightest, it's what's on them that gets me going.
I cant relate to these manz that camp out to buy an Xbox360 then spend all day on a forum going on about screen resolutions... U_U - that aint gaming. Just recently managed to source an old model NTSC N64 - got it just for RGB mod + Starfox64; the extra special Heroness that game gives you is worth every penny!
Every console has a 'must have' on it, eventually. So I buy pretty much every machine that gets released and sit there waiting for it to show up

Damn! So that's what happened to it. If you ever want to sell it you know how to find me
Agree on the technotwats too. I enjoy chewing over these things once in a while, but you get the feeling that some people only buy a console because it has this feature or that bit of tech, endlessly going on and on about how fucking wonderful this or that feature is. I doubt they even play games, it's just some sort of lifestyle accessory like a stupid pair of overly expensive ear-buds.

Still waiting for the PSP killer app...
kidding, I bought the machine for Lumines, but there isn't much else right now. Fingers crossed for OutRun.
I wouldn't buy a machine if there was nothing at all I was interested in, hence no 360. I have a couple of one-game machines too, the Jaguar and the Nuon for a start
Must have been 18 months before I got hold of a PS2.
