Ouendan - get!

Finally Ouendan arrived yesterday, and as just about everyone else has said, it is really really good Smile

If you've ever played Cool Cool Toon, this is the same game transposed to touch screen - it really is that simple.

The energy system is much harder though, you are judged continuously, and as the game gets harder you can be out in a matter of seconds.

Also the story is more immediately tapped than Cool Cool Toon, and presented by animated manga, making it easier for importers.

The sound quality of the music is fantastic too, really impressive off cart. Each song is fully sampled.

So anyway, I'm partway though hard now, and its got to the point where I need to learn the songs. Just like Band Brothers, this is where the game really transcends simple rhythm action, and the creativity of the hit point layouts melds with you mind.

Anyone else playing? You need this game Smile

Completed very difficult mode last night, must have taken 15-20 goes to learn the last song. Thats the game done in a couple of evenings though.

Still, very addictive!

Yeah, this game is class.

Don't lose heart, Paper is a bit of an animal when it comes to these games. Us lesser mortals have to struggle on with missed beats and flailing thumbs/limbs until it finally 'clicks in'. Smile

Yeah, I'm stuck-ish on the last song on Easy. This is my second Rhythm ACtioner after Band Bros. Which is a completely different breed.

Its got a cunning gitty simple concept difficult to master thing going for it. ITS JUST PRODDING THE SCREEN!!!. I've almost thrown my DS into a wall because of it. Its great!!!

The annoying part was that I inadvertantly started on Normal and managed the first two songs OK and then got stuck on the third. Reverted to Easy and had problems with the first two songs due to having less to do. Eventually completed them.

Managed to complete that song last night (may have been the fourth come to think of it). It was the leftmost of three in a row. There was as much to do in it as there was in the first song on normal. Now I have to learn the next song!!

I've played a little Elite Beat Agents, and its a really good version of the game - is anyone else on this one?

Technically, they have made lots of nice changes too, off the top of my head:

- download play
- replay saving
- rumble support

Also, there is a good interview with iNiS here that Nyarth pointed me to, where they mention that people who imported Oendan made EBA possible:

My gawd....

Had a proper go on Elite Beat Agents last night. It is fucking fierce.

Up to the last song on Cheerleader ('Elite Diva') difficulty - this is tougher than Ouendan.

DEFINITELY worth getting - its tweaked so tight it may burst.

You'd recommend this over Ouendan then?

My DS collection is so poor I need some proper games for it. Might pick up a couple after Christmas madness has ended.

I'd recommend both.

Nope, couldn't choose between them. Ouendan has a better song list, EBA is the tighter game.
