Sony are reduxing PS1 titles in some fashion, it'll be interesting to see what they've done with those. Maybe a reworking completely, or mega compression, or maybe just the original ISO (in so many words).

I think that cap is going to be lifted. The 50Meg limit is there because of the INSANE XBox 360 shit edition which doesn't have the HDD. 50Meg is the size of a 360 memory card I think. There's a bigger capacity card in the works, which will result in a higher cap I believe.
I don't understand why games like Nights and Panzer Dragoon Saga haven't been ported to every console under the sun. I mean PDS already has a full English translation!
Nights2 is becoming such a joke now anyway. Didn't Naka himself say they couldn't work out how to do a sequel without spanking it up in some way, so they decided not to bother? It would be less irritating if we weren't continuously reminded of how bloody brilliant it could be by little Nights cameos in:
Shenmue
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Riders
Sega Superstars
Phantasy Star Online (iirc).

The Sega Superstars game is particularly distressing, because a) it's not very good and b) It really makes you feel like you are flying through Nightopia, which is actually pretty cool.
I think the problem is it has such a loyal fanbase that taking the game somewhere new would upset the people who want it the most.
Then there's the risk of keeping the fixed path mechanics and the game flopping as the inevitable "2/10 you can't move where you want ennit" reviews come out.
Arguably only Clover (RIP) have the balls and the smarts right now to come up with something fitting for a sequel. Maybe now the talent has left Capcom some sort of collaboration could be possible.
I'm imagining Nights meets Viewtiful Joe complete with direction cancels and bucket loads of depth in the movement system.
I agree with comment on NiGHTS it is annoying to see GBA game in PSO but no sign of re-make with nicer graphics. SEGA butcher other games with AGES updates or even include as free game with some other thing like next Sonic game? Like SEGA Rally 2006 come with original arcade game (that is much better, shame!). Christmas NiGHTS has tweaked graphics so why not perfect the game? Oh I am such the graphic whore some time!

However, if it was any other IP then I'd be as pesemistic as you, but Nights has so much emotional attachment to it - Loyal fanbase, defining Saturn game and industry accolades. If you asked a cross section of Sega fans which franchise they would like to see reborn. I would think that Nights would come out on top. The magnitude of all that will, I'm sure, not be lost on Sega.
The thing is that no matter what this game turns out like I doubt it will ever be good enough to eclipse the original. This is why I'm desperate to see some gameplay details. Right from the off they're going to be faced with a choice of taking the risky, but potentially rewarding route of producing an updated homage to the original or trying something completely different, but more 'acceptable' to todays audience

Dude I think this is pretty much confirmed for Wii now. You do realise that the original employed a number of camera angles and control schemes right? It wasn't just side on looping. There were a number of short behind Nights sequences and at least one that adopted a birds eye view. The clever bit was linking the view changes and switches in control together so the player didn't notice the transitions. There's no reason a mixed mode control and viewpoint system couldn't be employed for the new game.

Can't it just live as it is.
You could update it graphically, but some of the charm is the freaky 3d of the Saturn, and the design because of it.
