The last neoempire event sadly got cancelled, but they just had a real great tournament in January called "Super Vs Battle" which had tons of players, games and comp.

Hopefully might see some of you guys there. For those that dont know what I look like...I will be the dude with the ferocious beard and turban...swinging either a HRAP or SCII stick about. Laughing out loud

You got shot of that hacked up HORI then Smile At least I remember that was yours from a meet at Marcus' years ago.

I have a nasty feeling I'm busy that weekend, but Harrow is close enough to strike if I can make it. Need some other fighting game noobs to hang with though. Jib is running in the dark that weekend I think. What's everyone else up to?

Nah, the hack job Hori was Thurrabreds. Laughing out loud

I was still a pad warrior on those days. Laughing out loud BURGER PAD 4 LIFE...that was my attitude! Untill slowly after getting better and better at the game, some advanced tricks and set ups were just too hard to even do on the pad. So then began the long and painfull task of relearning everything...but on stick.

After about a year of "casual" and gradual play, I have almost got my head around it. Much easier to do certain stuff on stick then it is on pad, the only difficulty I had for a while, and still do to an extent is cancelling into supers on reaction\heat of a fight 100%. But that will come with practice and experience.

Main tip...don't use pads for fighters that were not designed to be played with in the first place! It will fuck you up. ;\/ Learning a new fighter from scratch helps with execution too, as you won't have any hang ups about "I could do that on pad!" and you won't get frustrated.

Man...how long ago was that meet? I remember Outrun 2 just came out then. Heh...back then everyone was under 1 forum. *sniff*

I might be down for this -

There's a VF5 Ranking Battle going on, wouldnt mind some of that -

I just cant be arsed to go to these things, even last time when I had heads staying round my place for challenges and heading off to the event I just stayed home and smoked weeds/created Miis.

Fucking hell Suar it's in Harrow! Less than 10 miles from your gaff Tongue. Someone needs to invent some gear that looks and smells just like a regular cigarette.

My laziness is legendary, it's an artform. Why bother going to these events when I can call up some of the same bredders that'll be there and get them to challenge me in the comfort of my own yard?

The only thing I make an effort to trek out for is gear XD

112 - I'm not the Chewitsaur!! Shock He's been on too much pie! I'm the laziest brer you'll ever meet but I've still got Really Great Pex(TM) *bluesteel*

Got some crazy stuff to work on/repair over the weekends too - I got one of these in;

I just have to make up the diagrams for it and make an RGB cable, and have some unmarked Sega PCB to try with it, no idea what game it is yet.

You must have it narrowed down to a system. System16 perhaps? Could be cool if it's not suicided on you.

Have you got a Sega to JAMMA adapter or are you just going to rewire the thing?

I'm only going to figure out what everything is on the Supergun, I'm not going on a long ting. This board is definetly JAMMA, I just need it to get an image and sound to make sure the AV is all wired up properly.

This thing is mental it's got VRs on the RGB lines to adjust them - I just need to work out what everything is so I can make up cables and stuff for them.

That sounds awesome. Nice touch for a supergun, not heard of one having little pots for adjusting the colour balance before.

Without wishing to teach grandma to suck eggs, you're aware that the Sega System16 connector whilst dimensionally identical to a JAMMA connector is wired up differently?

Oh man I hope this aint like that!

TBH I absolutely hate working on this arcade stuff and have sub-zero interest in it - so I wont anticipate stuff like that. If it's even remotely a long ting (like the system16 pin assignment) I'm sending it straight back. I aint fucking about so much just to make an RGB cable!

I've got a system16 to JAMMA adapter you can borrow if you want to test out the board to find out what it is. I can mail it to you if you like. It's only wired for one player (I use it for Shinobi so no need for the second player). Like you I'm a lazy shit when it comes to this stuff as I should have fully wired it really.

Took the monitor chassis out of the VO cab the other day. I'm getting an electrician to give it the once over before sending it for repair.

Just got word it's definetly not a System16 board it's just a straight JAMMA configuration. Blud serious, I'm anti-long-ting - if I had to borrow a loom to get it to work it's immediately filed under L for LONG and work does not commence.

LOL

That's cool. Wonder what the game is then? It's going to be post JAMMA standard so can't be really old, but then not one of the System16 family. I think System18 uses the same pinouts. Might be 32 or some sort of crazy one off JAMMA game. Could be a boot, but unlikely if it's got SEGA on the board. If you get it working post back or pm as you've got my SEGA curiosity gland pumping. Smile

It's got one of the official Sega ID tags on it - it's definetly a legit board cos I remember we had to ID just about everything with these tags and there was a database kept.

You might find out what game it is........all depends on IF.......*yawn*.......I can be arsed XD

And it aint just me that lives by this ethic - even the monks back in the day felt the same way. Check out what the name of this temple - with aaalll those steps is;

hehe Laughing out loud

I FINALLY MADE IT TO ONE OF THESE THINGS! Stayed the night over at a mates house, and got myself down to Harrow on the Hill at what I believed was 12..but was actually 1! Damn clocks went forward and I had no idea. :?

I am such a fool, I took my camera and I totally forgot to do so. Hopefully I can see if my mate Vince took some snaps as he was running about with a video and digital camera.

Anyway, the venue was fantastic. There must have been easily 100+ before I left and there was still tons of space to move about and find a seat to sit down...not that anyone wanted to sit down as everyone wanted to catch the matches going on.

If you have been to a Yates bar before, just imagine the entire top floor of the place full of PS3s, plasma screens behind the bar and on the back wall, and tables each with 2-3 TVs on them running various fighting games. DAMN I should have taken some pictures! Sad

I have never seen so many people with an interest in fighting games and fighting games in one location like this ever. There was

x2 Virtua Fighter 5
x2 T5 Dark Ressurection
x2 HSF2 setups
x2 SFIII 3rd Strike
x1 CVS2
x1 MVC2
x1 Misc
x1 SFZ3
x1 Guilty Gear
x1 KOF 2002 + another Neo Geo with some fighter I did not catch the name of.

So yup, there was plenty to play and watch. Laughing out loud SFIII was probably the most active and would have benefitted from another set up though. It was really busy, but everyone was really friendly and there was no aggro or anything. There was one dude who stayed after taking his two losses for an extra game but he got told not to do hold up the line by someone else. "2 Losses...Off" Laughing out loud

I won a couple of games each time I got a go, but I was seriosly outclassed and got handled by the person who was dominating the paticular machine at the time. Stand out 3rd Strike players I saw was this Q user who I think goes by the name of Desk who was decking all comers for a good 30 minutes! He must have racked up 15 wins or somthing. There was also a great Akuma and Oro user whos name I did not catch. There was also the regular RB players such as Ryan, Raju and Vince.

Was really impressed and I am quite inspired to up my game on 3rd Strike and using an arcade stick so I can try and be more competition next time. Seriously folks, the range of skill levels at the event, you can learn so much and improve just by watching and playing there.

There was also a 2 vs 2 tournament held, which I sadly could not stay for otherwise I would have got home really late and end up missing work. Managed to stay for about 4 hours and it was well worth the £5 admission fee.

Met a few people i know from forumdom which was nice, but also managed to totally walk past people I have been chatting to online for years, and only realising it was them when i got "OI, you made it to FD3?!"

Oh, and a big HELLO, to Mr Shin Dragon the topic starter and one of the event staff at the venue from Neoempire.com. Friendly chap, walking around with a Neoempire Fei Long T Shirt! He also very kindly put my bag behind the bar for safekeeping, thanks mate! ^_^

Now that I know where the place is, and how to get there (believe me, for someone who does not live in London, the Tubes are a bloody mission to figure out how to get to one place to another! A MISSION! Doesnt help somone lied to me and made me jump onto a wrong train Laughing out loud Sad ) it will be easier for me to travel down there for the next one.

Oh, and the matches have been upped!

Final

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLI-zpT5Kjg

Vince (MAK) & RaJu (Urien) vs Steptoe Akira (Yun) & Prodical Son (Akuma)

Vince is a mate from around where I live. Laughing out loud Been trying to gauge how much better ive gotten on stick every now and again when i meet up with him for a session, but he cains me too badly! I hate his Yun and Mak. ORO WILL SUCEED ONE DAY!

You can check out the rest of the matches here, at his channel.

Everyone should come down to the next one, even if you dont play its still great just to watch and have a chat. Smile
