The game Arika said if it can't be ported perfectly onto the PS2, then it's not getting done. Close they were, but no cigar, however, not to be beaten, the game creator has come back with a remixed DS version, which is focused on Boss Battle Score Attacks.

Sorry forgive my ignorance (and my reluctance to download the movie at work). What's the deal with this. From what I can gather it's a shooter. How does it play, system wise?
I took a quick peek at some Youtube vids. Looks like there's a hell of a lot going on. Not sure how this will turn out on the DS, but it could do with some decent shooters for sure.
Check out this vid when you get a chance man - it's amazing stuff! O_O
Ketsui is pure Cave bullet-hell and this remixed version looks amazing, hopefully this will lead to more proper shoot em ups on the DS ^^

Yeah I've got Nanostray, but it's a bit average really. They borked it by insisting on 3D and a skewed perspective.
I do appreciate the way Cave shooters have a real style to them. Watching the vids on Youtube I was thinking to myself this looks like a Cave jobbie
. Need to dl the DS vid when I get home and take a peek at how it translates across. Sounds cool though.
I'm such a chicken though I just can't find the Heroness(TM) to really attack the bullet patterns in the Cave games. I always end up trying to fly around them
That Nanostray is so wrong on so many levels,
Basic design decisions....so many basic little things about shoot em ups the dev didn't seem to understand. It was like they just made it that way because they could;
- the stupid skewed perspective with the angled aiming, the way you can only use about 90% of the visible playfield to move, the idiot weapons system using the touchscreen. Plus WTF was the point in being able to attack and be attacked by enemies off-screen?
Was talking about the same shit with that Heavenly Sword earlier too - about how the most basic things seem to be overlooked, don't these people play other games?
This version of Ketsui looks SICK though - definetly proof of the DS being able to host this type of bullet-hell ^^

I'm compelled to chip in that I also thought Nanostray was utter shite.
Someone was trying to convince me otherwise recently, can't remember who.
me? no. not me... I couldn't manage more than 5 seconds playing nanostray... infact all I wanted to prove was that the touch screen thing wasn't THAT daft... was that even on a button switch, or was that the issue?
The issue was they didn´t give you the option. You had to change weapons on the touch screen. Completely daft. The system if I remember rightly was also a bit grey. The way the game awarded bonuses etc. made it quite confusing as to how you should play. I think the valour bonus iirc was the stupid one which was something like not using the autofire or something equally as dippy. Most of my beef though was with the viewpoint.
I'm sure I read somewhere that a lot of the stupid design decisions in Nanostray, such as the touchscreen weapon changing, were forced upon Shin'en by the publisher. Nanostray 2's site even specifically insists that it "doesn't force any touch screen usage" and there's a preview video that shows a few nice ideas (if only because they're lifted wholesale from Gradius V)

I'm not getting my hopes up much as there's no proof that Shin'en can actually make a fun game, but it looks like it should at least be better than the rest of the Iridion/Nanostray series.
And that Ketsui port looks amazing, although I'd have to hold the screen about 6 inches from my face to see what's going on. I'm counting the days until I'm back in London so I can try the real thing at Casino
