Last night I hooked my DC to the tele to rinse Ikaruga for a review and to smash the ikaruga.co.uk score boards.
EVERYTHING has a greeny/yellow colour overlay, anything that should be white is some dodgy summer grass colour.
Is it fixible by prodding something or do I send it to my console graveyard?

Sounds like dirty contacts on the AV port, or maybe a failing scart cable.
Try cleaning the AV socket pins with a cotton bud and a spot of cleaning fluid (some alcohol tape head cleaner should be fine). Try another video cable if you have one.
Certainly isn't ready for the RGB scart socket in the sky just yet, each Dreamcast powered up is Gaming +1. We can't afford to lose any.
I have a similar problem with mine although it produces a blue tinge. In my case it's the cable that's the problem (same problem on both my DCs) If you gently wiggle it in and out and keep an eye on the picture to see what happens then that will probably confirm it.
Try cleaning as above.

Just to add I'm just using the box standard scart lead to hook it up to the tv...
things to try this evening:
a) so i just clean the pins on the scart
b) give it a little wiggle and jiggle
Nope, aint having it I'll have to go to gamestation and see if i can pick up a cheap unboxed one tomorrow...
shame, it'll be dearly missed.
Also in other news Psyvariar 2 came through my door today, my 3rd copy in 3 years, I can kiss goodbye to any social life I've got now
I suppose it could be a dodgy contact inside somewhere. Presumably not easy to correct. I need to fire up my DC to try some recent acquisitions out.

The problem I had with my visuals on the DC, other than not being HD ready, was that the sheathing around the metal bit had slipped, making contact a little speculative. So I made some "modifications". Now all is literally rosey.

Don't dump the the old one, I might be able to revive it.
I'd love you long time, if you could....
Right the picture is fixed, but I've got now sound.... err someone clever help me
Turn the volume up on your TV? Make sure the scart plug is pushed firmly home (I have this problem with my Freeview box). Pray.
What did you do to fix the picture. It could be related to that.

Used both yours and paper's advice.... left it for a lil' bit and it worked....
Fault diagnosis.
1) Do you get sound from your television normally
2) Do you get sound when connecting other devices to the scart socket
3) Have you tried it in another AV socket
4) Have you tried it with another/different type of AV cable
If none of that works then it's going to be either the connection into the DC or the DC itself.

Yeap

Yeap

ermf, dont think I've got one
Is there a connection like the ones I've got on my XBOX and GC with the scart and then the 3 seperate cables going into it (yellow, red, white). Maybe if I buy something newer (maybe better) that could solve my problem than this old scart lead?
You can get composite cables yeah, and s-video. What you have sounds like an RGB scart cable though, which is going to look a lot better.
A composite cable would make it easier to test the sound.
Have you tried wiggling the scart plug? Sounds like it might just be dirty contacts on that, perhaps. You could open up the scart plug fairly easily (unscrew the neck, then unclip the shell) and just check that no wires have come loose too.
Unusual to lose both channels though isn't it? Is there a common ground for the audio?

It depends how its wired up.
Both L and R are at one end of the plug, so it it is loose or worn they might both go.
What you have sounds like an RGB scart cable though
I've got the box standard scart that comes with the DC...
OK it works now!!!
wahhooo
I pulled out the scart cable from the dc end, and slammed it back in and I've got sound!!!!
I think the moral of the story here is, dont unplugged your dc ever
Psyvariar 2 sounds soooo sexy its untrue
There is an argument that operating switches and plugging/unplugging things keeps the contacts clean, but I agree when something is working that hasn't previously you want to tread on eggshells around it (just in case it goes wrong again).
