Bizarre!
I was clearing down some files on my PC this morning and I came across a PC version of Guru Logic champ, which I must have downloaded from a compile website at some point. I'm struggling to find the original source so I've hosted it myself (with dubious legal consequences) :?
simply dl the file, unzip and run the .exe there are some instructions in the readme html file (all in Japanese).
I'm not sure how much of the game is in there, but it will at least provide a taster to anyone thinking of picking up the cart.

Enjoy.

10 Levels according to charlesr, spread across the difficulty spectrum.
A good taster for anyone who's still unsure as to what to expect from this great little game.
Next stop Ninja Cop... (if anyone wants to loan me a copy

I'm in the "can't do teh second level" camp.

I might be missing a button or two
Holy moly I just worked it out!

Good innit!

Read the really rather good to Guru Logic. It reads like the reviewer completed the game- don't suppose you have any pointers for Level 30 of World 9 of the GBA game, please?
Got it so the bottom half is done, with only 1 block missing on the upper. Think I have the general strategy, just can't quite do that final push. Been pissing around with the moving block, took it all the way around the perimeter and back with no real success.
Came back to the game the other day after leaving it, managed to crack through a whole load more levels, just can't open the 10th world because of that puzzle.
Edit- with absolutely no idea how, I just completed the level
Was stuck for hours... just messing around and it somehow worked. Yay!
Cool, there's always a way
The game has plenty of levels that left me totally stumped for hours, but it's worth getting through to the end as the story has one final twist

Na, not this time.
The games bugged, it's impossible to solve.
Truly is ridiculous the amount of time I've spent on Guru this weekend- fully charged DS has died, the Micro is on a red light. Not solely on the one level, but It's seen the vast majority of play.
Here's hoping for tips for Stage 11, MIssion 45... or maybe even posting this will make the pixies let me solve it myself, like last time.
What was galling was spending ages on 43, the video tape level, complete it, only to see an entry on Youtube with it's solution. Doh!
Well I've just recently got hold of another copy of this. You're going to make me play through to 11-45 to help out aren't you
I've probably forgotten everything from when I completed it last time, but it might come flooding back.
SPEED-RUN Fuuuuuuuu
If I cba then I'll plug through as much of this tonight as I can and asses where I'm at tomorrow. It could take a fair chunk of time or forever for me to get up to 11-45 mind
Papercut is probably near there or there abouts, maybe he can help.
Surely it is only a matter of time before someone sues their arses out of existence.
It'd be wonderful if you could help, Madbury. It's the final level of the section so it's not even if it can be ignored
May I suggest an evil ROM (I can provide a link via PM/ email) and the cheat to open all levels?
Screen grabs that way, ya see and no need to sully your original file with cheats.
All 12 levels open with 335 puzzles available:
Enter the hiragana ka, the heart symbol, the hiragana su, the heart symbol, and the hiragana mi as your name.
I've been playing a proper copy on me DS and Micro (heh, actually I think it was my copy lent to NTSC and their subsequent review that got so many into the game) but here's a grab from my Xbox with that cheat so you can see the level... maybe it'll jog your memory:
Legally it's difficult to know where they stand, but they seem to be getting away with it. How similar does a game have to be before it's deemed to be an infringement on the creators IP? I'm sure there have been cases in the past with 'proper' games companies getting into legal trouble with 'clones'.
Guru was so ripe for popcap bastardisation that I'm not surprised to see it. I'd give it another six months before we see a J2ME mobile version of Pixelus. Grrrrr.
Bowser YES it was you're copy that you lent to Charles. He then got his own copy which he lent to me. The whole damn thing is your fault >_<
The level does look familiar. I will have a thinky poos...

Sorting myself out now with the necessary
Cracking work, cheers matey
Just incase you have the same non-knowledge of Japanese like me, here's a screen of the icons needed for the all level cheat:
Maybe it's just me, but I had trouble entering them... the ingame characters seemed slightly different to those found on Google.
That level does look familiar - it is about the point I gave up and played Picross though, not sure if I did that one.
OK solved it. It's quite deviant and you're going to kick yourself

Solution, hopefully if I don't have my L and R shoulder buttons mixed up
RR<<<<<<^v<^vL>>^^R^L>vvR<^vL^>^R>vL<^v>^
Ah crap.
The bit in the middle, "L>>^^" where you're firing the block into the brick wall. I saw that and was like ah shit, I know exactly what I should be doing. Really can't believe I didn't get that the furthest right block should be filled the way you did it.
Thanks for going to the effort of sorting it, greatly appreciated.
The solved video... ha ha at the dog
Kinda epic opening to stage 12 too. Shit load of puzzles in there, though I don't really need that many to try the hidden, ? stage.
How this game mocks me.
These last set of levels are truly evil. On the face of it they look (relatively) simple. In the past levels I'd take a look at the tricky ones, mess around for a bit and not really get too far*
This new lot loads of them I've quickly got the hang of. Started filling the blocks in and only when I get to the very end do I realise I'm one block short. Only this block is hidden behind another, and to claim it I have to remove some blocks. Only removing them puts me right back where I started, so ultimately it's a failure.
Happened a crazy amount of times now on Stage 12.
*What is frankly bizarre is the sheer number of puzzles I've got stuck on earlier, and tried loads of times. I've just about scraped past enough levels to try the final ? stage and complete that to open a load of new puzzles. Only, after these are open and I've done a few I go back to the old, incomplete puzzles and often clear them at first attempt. Heh, totally weird how I can be so stuck, leave it and when I go back do it straight off.
Only 16 puzzles left before I can attempt the final ? stage...
Good innit
Thinking about putting together a complete set of solutions. Maybe I should start working backwards from the last level.
Just completed it. Well, by completed I mean I just about scraped enough levels together to attempt the final stage. Took me about a week or so to do the last 5 puzzles needed to meet the criteria, talk about fiendish. Strangely though the final, hidden stage was a bit of a doddle. I did it on my first go, with the timer at under 10 minutes. Maybe I just had a genius moment, but it was real surprising considering the trouble I had on the 12th stage in general.
Managed to only solve 14 of the 50 puzzles, I was dependent on solving the last few from earlier stages to hit 256. The next set of levels opened upon completion look even harder, if possible. Eek.
What I did start to notice was a few small clues from the maze itself itself. For example if there was room for the moveable blocks to traverse the perimeter then that's pretty much what you'd have to do. Same sort of idea with creating long trails of error blocks so you can get the one in place, realisation of this again by the maze shape. I tended to have most troubles with the smallest ones where only 2 or 3 blocks needed placing.
So, watched the final video and in honesty I'm left utterly baffled, yet a little charmed, by the final video. I have a vague understanding of what happened, but lots of it I was like WHAT THE HELL. The joys of playing games where you don't understand the language
I plan to carry on playing to solve more puzzles, but probably not to the extent I have recently. Guru really monopolised my gaming time of late. I doubt I'll solve every puzzle (least not without help), but then again there's the magic factor of progressing to the next stage and suddenly being able to solve the previous ones impossible tasks.
Quality game, second only to Polarium in my favourite puzzler I think.
Out of interest, Madbury, how many did you solve to complete the game?
Seems I jumped the gun regarding the EX Levels. Loads of them are incredibly easy, to the extent a fair few have gone down 1st try in under a minute. Strange.
Which reminds me, the penultimate level- it's green dude with spiky shorts from the previous sections video. Just why has he got his hands permanently down his trousers. Most disconcerting.
Any idea what the text is which pops up every time you select the EX stage?
I did them all. Yes I'm a bit unhinged.
Thought I'd better finish the lot before writing the review. The EX levels are a shade easier from memory. The game had probably half a dozen levels that I would say are extremely hard, by that I mean hours and hours of time invested to get one solution.
You're right though there are a number of hints you can pick up from the configuration of the playfield. Often it's a case of working things backwards. For example I'll look to see if there's a block that can be placed without the need to stack other blocks or remove blocks from the path. If such a thing exists then you can be sure that you must place that one last. I'll also look at the movable blocks and try to figure out whether if there are any places that can only be reached using those. Half the trick is working out which blanks must be occupied by movable blocks. The rest is pretty much lateral thinking. The puzzles that caused me the most problems are the ones which look easy, but you end up cutting off access to areas that you need to get to later. >_< A lot of it is working backwards.
The ulock for getting all 335 probably isn't worth it, but it's a fun little diversion for five minutes.

One for you Mads.
Oh oh ooooooooooo.....!!!!!!! That could be wicked
, presentation looks a little sterile, but if they've got the levels they can have my money. I don't have a DSi though TT_TT
