I thought I'd give you guys a heads up about a new(ish) game import site. Its called genkivideogames as the topic says Wink, they specialise in all the niche titles that the mainstream doesn’t really get but we thrive on. What's great about the site, is not only the prices (in most cases) but the facility to request a title.

I've had a lot of trouble trying to get hajime no ippo on the gba, I literally requested the game and like what ten days later they got in contact with me to say they copped it. Two days later I had it in my hands delivered via special delivery and in top condition.

Seriously it's a marvellous service that I think most of us would adore and use. So hopefully you'll find this thread useful, the owner of the site will once a month, update the thread with all the hidden gems that he's picked up so our collections will be bursting with wonderful niche titles Laughing out loud

(Open Senses have no connection to the site, I’ just spreading the good word to you guys)

Greetings. Thanks very much for the warm welcome. We very much appreciate a mention on the forum as thats often how we find out about cool titles often overlooked from clued up gamers like yourselves. Its nice to hear the prices are decent too as we try our best depite having to pay the 17.5% vat here on imports to the UK. Still at least that means you won't get taxed if they are sent to within the EU. We do also try very hard to get requests, though it can sometimes be a bit hit and miss with rare titles as you never know where they'll pop up next. We do have a good network though. And we always price according to what we've paid for a game - not what it might be sold for.

Anyway just as a recent update we have had many belting titles restocked this week: more fight fests on the DC along with the funkiest Cool Cool Toon with Cool Cool Jam on the NGPC, the retro chic Cyborg 009 on the Mega CD, the Treasure classic Yu Yu Hakusho for the Mega Drive and more Treasure brilliance on the N64 in Mischief Makers. The PC Engine gets three amazing additions in Rayxanber III, Kaze Kiri and Steam Hearts with plenty more restocks on the Hu Card format such as Dead Moon and Splatterhouse. Gear Fighter Dendoh and Choukousoku Grandoll demonstrate the PSX's hardcore credentials if you know the right places to look. The Super Famicom shows off Demons Blazon from the golden Capcom era along with the genius of Violinist of Hamelin and Macross Scrambled Valkyrie. The Saturn proves its in a different orbit when it comes to import retro gaming with the welcomed addition of Battle Garegga and the ThunderForce V Special Pack along with some cracking restocks: Segata Sanshiro, Prikura Daisakusen, Salamander Deluxe Pack, Guardian Heroes and Hyper Duel all coming with the Genki seal of approval. Finally a lovely, limited edition version of Chun Li - well worthy of immortalising in a PVC figure.
For the full story please visit http://www.genkivideogames.com/emails/september3_email.asp

Well hope to hear some nice requests, but hopefully they are already on the site. Feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, its alot of money but with the DC release being handled by Sega Direct it is fast approaching the 'collectors only' bracket. Sorry its no cheaper, but all the prices on the site are based on what we paid for the game...

That is fine, a truly rare title (not R@RE Laughing out loud ). I look for a way to get notified if it is in stock but I can not see how to do it. Like other shops email me when it stock, I enter my email address.

Pretentious!

Not sure how rare it is - I guess some titles are expensive because they're rare such as The Ooze on the Mega Drive, some because they're good such as Dracula X on the PCE and some because they're a bit of both and desirable like our Ulala here... Still it didn't really receive much promotion at the time - I guess Seag was already hitting the panic button and pulling out the DC market.
If you click on the 'backorder' text it will open up a box to let you enter an email address. Then we can let you know as soon as its back in stock. Of course if the title isn't on the site, please feel free to fill in a request such as for the fluffy set. But ol' Fluffy doesn't pop up much.
Thanks!

Are you planning on stocking the Dreamcast TwinSticks at all? It's just that several people I know want one.

We do have a set on the way, but they are so bulky we have to get them shipped by sea mail. Unfortunately they were a request, but if they're in demand we'll certainly look out for more. There was a good mention of them in the retro section of GamesTM (hope that doesn't get me censored!) along with a Virtual On article this month. Quite hard to find boxed, but we'll keep looking... Yeah, Ashley wrote that. He asked a few peeps over at VO.net about the series. Haven't seen the article yet though.

VOOT is an excellent game it's just that you really need the TwinSticks to play it properly.

I have Twinsticks but I am not good at VO:OT. I need to give it more time to play. Hehe I always get about half way through fight and then I do not know what hit me and dead

I keep them in proper box too! Thank you for feedback Peter. You have a good site, I hope to do some business.

It is a very nice article mind, but can't say I've ever had the pleasure of playing Virtual On with the Twinners. I still have trouble finding my square and traingle buttons on Vib Ribbon. Smile I guess it takes time to master the controls, something not many games can be made with these days as they are more for a quick fix. But I guess thats what makes VOOT special.
Appreciate the kind words about the site. If you guys (what Edge would call the gaming cognoscenti) think we're doing alright, then thats great news. Smile
Cheers.

Any chance of a Guru Logic Champ on the scope? The copy I reviewed was borrowed from a mate, would be nice to have this GBA classic on tap to lend out to friends.

Pretty slippery and elusive that Guru Guru - we've had an eye out for it for a wee while. But the beauty of the second hand market is you never know what'll pop up next so fingers crossed. Will you friend not do an extended loan? Smile

It's not really for me. I've completely rinsed it, but I'd like to have a copy to loan/give to someone else, because it's such an incredible game. I will pop a request on your site for a copy. Smile

Hey Peter,

Any chance of you getting your hands on any Viewtiful Joe mini-figures? They've been on-sale in Japan and the US but Forbidden Planet couldn't import them into the UK because they're 'food products' or something - I guess they have gum in the bases?

Worth a try as I've been after these for a while now. Basically anything VJ related would be lapped up around these here parts I'd imagine.

Hey, if you do clothing I'm desperate for a Katamary Damashii T-Shirt. The dark blue one with the giant osterich on it. Bastards won't ship to the UK Sad

Paper the Guru Logic Champ is for you, not for me. Smile

We are really trying to focus on getting in the triple A game titles and the wonderful wacky ones for now rather than diverge too much into merchandise. To be honest we don't really have the contacts either as it seems quite a closed market at least for the saucy Akiba figurines... We do have a couple of bits on there such as these Kotobukiya Kasumi figures

Some mad Mario magnets and the ever popular Animal Crossing figures (just don't ask who wrote the story... http://www.genkivideogames.com/animalcrossing.asp Laughing out loud ) But we are trying to keep it under control before we get snowed under in Yoshi plushes and Mario loo roll holders...
Will definitely keep them peeled for the Guru Guru's though. Thanks for your tips and keep 'em coming. Smile

I used Genki for the first time this weekend and am really impressed with the service. Delivery is super fast, packaging is impeccable and communication has been friendly and helpful.

The site is incredibly well organised, full of useful information and stocked with loads of titles I haven't seen anywhere else.

I can't recommend these guys enough.

LOL. I've just spent an hour or so browsing the site. There's so much to see on there, I could lose myself in it.

It's taken a lot of will power to not spend some silly money tonight.
