Hi, guys. Hope you don't mind me posting this here but I'm trying to get as many responses as possible.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
gamesTM wants to know your favourite games of the last generation for an upcoming feature. If you'd like your vote to count then please post your personal top 10 here or email them to .

Eligible formats are:

PS2
Xbox
GameCube
Dreamcast
GBA
Arcade (1999 - 2004)
PC (1999 - 2004)

The closing date for votes is the 6th of August...so be quick.

That's ever so slightly confusing... so effectively you want a top 10 games, that only include those consoles. (what about NeoGeo Pocket, Wonderswan, N-GAGE! blah blah blah).

The oh so tedious wikipedia's definition of generations is at least chronologically accurate:

I'll have a little muse on this and post up something. I assume imports are ok to post. My list will be a bit odd as I'll put up the games I've played and enjoyed the most as opposed to those which deserve to be and are already recognised.

I knew this would happen but I don't think it matters that much: judging by the low number of GBA games voted for so far, I can't see any "lower tier" handhelds garnering any significant votes. If anyone does vote for games from those systems, I'll include them but I don't think they'll count for much.

Ultimately, we have to draw the line somewhere. It may not be a line that everyone agrees on but that's life eh?

Yep. Imports are fine and obscure stuff, though unlikely to hit the overall top 10, will ultimately make for a more interesting feature - though I can't say exactly how just yet. Smile

Coolio, I'll pop up some top 10s later. GBA will have Guru Logic Champ from me. I still love that game.

Did some scraping on gamefaqs and pulled off a list of all the arcade games released between 1999 and 2004 (arranged alphabetically below). Might be a useful aid memoir to those of us in our 30s who are losing it a little in the memory department Smile. Looking at this list it seems far from complete. It's easier for my brain to cope with a single favourite on each platform... because thats an easy delimeter....

So my preliminary list won't count, but I have plenty of procrastination.

PS2 - Sega Rally 1995
Xbox - OutRun2
GameCube - F-Zero GX
Dreamcast - bugger, that's tricky Crazy Taxi?
GBA - no idea... Orbital (I don't even own it!)
Arcade (1999 - 2004) - Crazy Taxi / OutRun2 yeah OutRun2 maybe
PC (1999 - 2004) - Homeworld (not made by SEGA!) maybe... can't really pin down dates in my brain.

So to procrastinate further, not implying the rules of this game are a bit spongey, but I am assuming these dates relate to release dates, so I need to pour over release listings and stroke a beard to distil this.

Late on this one.

Amplitude (PS2) - most zonal rhythm action game
Space Channel 5 Part 2 (DC/PS2) - most joyful rhythm action game
Band Brothers (DS) - most collaborative rhythm action game
Twisted Wario Ware (GBA) - out-motion controls the Wii
Shenmue II (DC/Xbox) - not enough Shenmue these days
Psyvariar 2 (DC/Xbox/PS2) - most addictive schmup
Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube/Wii) - better than Ocarina
Crazy Taxi (Arcade/DC/PS2/GameCube) - perfection
F Zero GX/AX (GameCube/Arcade) - perfection
OutRun 2 (Arcade/Xbox) - perfection

Oh hang on, no DS? Band Brothers came out in 2004.

I did my one aswell - I'm still not sure on the order, or about the inclusion of Disgaea. I stuck that on the end cos of how long I played it for more than anything.

1. Devil May Cry 3 (PS2)
2. Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
3. Viewtiful Joe (Gamecube)
4. Psyvariar Revision (PS2)
5. Psyvariar 2 (Dreamcast)
6. F Zero GX (Gamecube)
7. Smash Bros DX/Melee (Gamecube)
8. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)
9. Metroid Prime (Gamecube)
10.Disgaea (PS2)

Paper bruv - I thought we were meant to be pretending AX doesnt exist!!? Shock

AX or Crazy Taxi cab in your house? Now THAT'S racist! Laughing out loud

You can adjust the steering sensitivity within the options menu even on the AX Twins, that's the one thing that did my head in on these machines; they were never set nicely. Every single one I played (apart from that dreamy Cycraft version) had ridiculously sensitive steering.

You know they now have VF5 ver.C in Troc on a proper cab? (I know it's shocking!)
Fucking £1 a go though.

I'm happy enough with the High Grade stick and SD Wink

Seriously though, I reeeally need to get my VF skills together. It would be on the list, but I've barely scraped the surface Smile

Gah I hate having to choose an order. Sad

Shenmue (Dreamcast) - Real life but better and gay-er
Outrun2 (Arcade/XBox) - Teh music, teh drifts, teh heaven
Super Monkey Ball (GCN) - Monkeys in balls = genius
Katamary Damashii (PS2) - Best use of the dual shock ever
Metroid Prime (GCN) - A 2D game in 3D clothing. Simply amazing
InitialD Special Stage (PS2) - Sega doing what Sega do best driving fast sideways
Jambo Safari (Arcade) - Why no Dreamcast port? Criminally underrated.
San Francisco Rush 2049 (Dreamcast) - Coin Hunting and the Guantlet only a priviledged few will ever know what I'm talking about Wink
Guru Logic Champ (GBA) - Made my brain hurt (a lot).
Rez (Dreamcast) - Taught me to appreciate dance music

I posted these in rllmuk but I'm just gonna go ahead and copy & paste them here:

Cave Story (PC)
Initial D Arcade Stage (or Special Stage, whatever) (Arcade/PS2)
God Hand (PS2)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (GC)
Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou (Arcade/PS2)
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Resident Evil 4 (GC)
Viewtiful Joe (GC)
Super Smash Bros Melee (GC)
Psyvariar 2 (Arcade/PS2/DC)

I'm not really sure about Shadow of the Colossus and it feels strange having no fighting games apart from SSBM. I'm sure Devil May Cry 3 should be in there too but I'm still playing God Hand so I haven't had a chance to play it properly.

Madbury, you left Espgaluda and Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou off your arcade list Tongue

Laughing out loud - I put Viewtiful Joe on the list, but forgot God Hand! For the most part I remembered right,

On a random I just found this picture;

Fucking wicked cab that! ^^

Anyone else getting the Sega Ages Galaxy Force II in?

Check out that CAB in the movie! It's pure magic! XD

I want one. I'd have to build a Galaxy Force(TM) extension onto the house, but it'd be worth it.

I've totally lost track of the Sega Ages stuff. It will take a Shinobi/Shadow Dancer arcade port to get my attention.

I was thinking about that - I dont actually enjoy playing VF. I appreciate it completely but when I play it's 100% clinical and technical (all 0s and 1s), however with Soul Calibur it's like the controller and console disappears and you're directly fighting my soul!

Cally 2 and 3 make me want to slit my wrists though. The series is completely dead to me now.

A top 10 really isn't enough space to get all the goodness in. It's like being stuck with the small attache case in RE4.
