I just had to take it on the chin and get both US & JPN machines. I knew Freeloader and mods weren't foolproof by a long way, and it's saved a lot of hassle. Hope this one works though, for Spags' sake...

I was actually considering the same thing...
TBH I don't play copies and just want both NTSC regions, I'd rather un-mod my Japanese machine and just have both the way things are now.
You'd think so wouldn't you, depends how it boots and what the exploit is I guess.
Maybe if they've cloned whatever it is a disk needs to boot on a Wii so that it looks identical it would be ok, or maybe if they are exploiting some weakness in the dvd drive it wouldn't be preventable without a hardware fix.
At the same time, it might be possible for Nintendo to simply block booting the disk based on a checksum or signature unique to the freeloader.
Nintendo never blocked the original Cube Freeloader did they? Although firmware changes to the Wii stopped it working on that.
With Nintendo having patched the Freeloader exploit, its only a matter of time before an update renders it useless. This might be a fool proof answer to the problem
Pretty interesting. I wonder if this will be subjected to months of delay like the Cube version was.
Might be worth a punt.
If this is stable it would be worth it's weight in gold, I'm sick of the Wii's region lock.

I'm really pleased about this, but won't Nintendo just block it with another update?
