Went around my mates house yesturday and played Red Steel, I've only had limited Wii play time as I don't own one. Boy does my wrist hurt after playing Red Steel actually it hurts playing anything on the Wii. Am I the only person who suffers from this or what?
It's such a shame cos I really wanna buy one for Mario Galaxy but I just dont think I'll enjoy it cos of the numbing pain. Am I an isolated case or does anyone else have this.

Hmm can't say I've felt any pain. You're probably over exagerating the movements required. The motion sensing is a lot more subtle than you might think. I barely move my wrist when playing now. soaking up some of the movement in my forearm.
I've found that unless you are using a lot of sudden jolting movements, using the remote is cool... same as Mads, restrained subtle movement seems the most comfortable to use.
I've not really felt any pain, but my arm ached after a really vigorous Wii Tennis session (I think that is the game that gets most people).
I would have thought, unless you were jolting your arm about a lot, if you feel pain quite quickly after starting to use the remote there might be something else up - I'd be tempted to ask a doctor to have a look.
As mentioned, it may be a case of overly emphatic movement. I had a similar problem with Zelda when I first took to it, swinging the Wiimote around like a madman. It only stopped when I played with my hands almost at rest, just using light flicking movements. I was surprised by how well the movements registered and the pain was no more.
Just holding the remote still constantly to aim straight in Red Steel is a battle. I don't think going to the gym does my wrists any favors they do click at many different angles

That doesn't sound too healthy. Stupid question, but does your mate have the sensor bar set up right. Does the position of the bar (above or below the screen) match what's in the settings. Also is the bar sitting right on the edge of the tele. If mine is sitting back from the top edge then the surround of the tele obscures the IR LEDs such that I can only get it to register when I raise the height of the remote which can get uncomfortable.
My lazy arse playing position is now sitting upright legs parted with my hands in my lap (or at least where my lap would be if my legs were together). In this position I'm actually resting my forearms and wrists on the tops of my legs supporting the weight of my arms for maximum comfort.
I've tried other positions like slouching with my legs outstretched on the coffee table and my remote arm down by my side, but I tend to pick up reflected signals from my trousers which causes the pointer to be a little erratic.
The control scheme in Red Steel is a little bit odd iirc maybe that's got something to do with it.
The sensor sits above the tele I don't know if he's set it up correctly though. All I know is that minor movement of the wii-mote sends the cursor flying across the screen. I don't know if he's got it set to ultra sensitive or what, the snooker game on wii-play gets on my tits also. I pull back and for some reason when I push forward the game seems to lose the data and I have to start again.
It's drilling my brain, I might buyt a Wii with something simple like excitetruck, I mean moving it on it's side cannot be that difficult.
I think i'd cry if someone made me play Zelda on it, I don't think I'd cope.

He's probably got the calibration set up too sensitive, never had any issues with the remote at all (sensor is above the TV). I too use very small movements with my hands at rest when playing, the remote is like a mouse when you use it for pointing and motion controls dont require more than a slight flick.
The only game I've had problems with is Bleach - but that's down to the stupid way Sega implemented the attack commands (using the pointer function rather than the tilt).

Not owning a Wii yet I've never had this problem, but Metroid Hunters on the DS had a similar effect on me.
It's weird- it was a brilliant control scheme that worked perfectly, yet induced pain after a while. Tried it with the buttons but it was nowhere near as good as stylus control.
Shame the game itself was dull and boring, not even really a Metroid game. More Doom in a Metroid skin.
^ Love that. XD
