Devil May Cry Series HD

Yeah, crazy.

Would 'remastering' them in HD add all that much I wonder... the most likely outcome is that they'll accidentally break something.

That is assuming none of the original dev team were involved, which seems to be the trend for these PS3 re-releases.

Nintendo's proper reworking of Zelda OOT, or Sega getting Q? to do Rez HD are the few examples of this being done right.

Be good if they do a sterling job though!

I've known about this for a while, this is why I really don't care what they're doing with that weird reboot - I'll have DMC3 for all time baybee!!!

I heard it was taken down by that Spanish site and the box is a blatant shop.

But, I'll take your word for it Saur.

GET HYPE.

xD

I was actually gutted that Capcom missed a trick with MVC3. The Bios should've had links to the games or movies of the characters if available.

I'm just saying that as I really wanted to get DMC3, VJ, Okami, GNG on XBLA.

Hope it comes out on xbox too.

LOL

Leon, Chris and Dante, that's just awesome.

I have the complete collection on PS2, so probably won't bother to go HG.

Don't take my word for it! The person I heard this from does not work for Capcom, he was right about Monster Hunter HD before it happened though, so hopefully this is properly legit too.

LOL! It had better come out soon! They'd be mad not to. I saw the gameplay trailer of the reboot/Americanised DMC....I don't even know what to call it - it was like staring into a backed up toilet.

Here it is - with this, life is complete.

http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20111104_488654.html

As long as I have DMC3, I'm more than happy. Absolutely cannot wait to get stuck into that again, in all the time I played it I still didn't even scratch the surface of the Styles other than Royal Guard and Swordmaster. I'm going to rinse this game for everything it's got and unleash the illest levels of Dante SWAG!

Gives me a chance to "try again". These games fall into the bag of games that I can never understand. I think its the fact that I have to be creative, I'm more a start finish line kinda player.

That's the thing - DMC3 especially is very "sandbox" like in the way you go about rinsing it properly. Finishing the game was simply to unlock the stages across all difficulty settings, then you can individually select stages and work on them until you get each one down.

Be ready to camp out on individual enemies and bosses, some of the gaming gaming I've ever had ever was camping out in a single room or boss fight with a bunch of friends and taking it to bits. Every single fight in this game can be made your bitch - even the ones which seem utterly overwhelming at first, the game is so beautifully designed that your performance is perfectly linked to your increasing dexterity on the pad and knowledge of the system.

This game also makes the best use of enemy attack signposts in any game ever. I cannot stand the way this extremely important fact is totally overlooked by 99% of 3D action games. In DMC3 you have a complete awareness of the entire field of enemies due to their audio attack signposts, being skanked by unannounced attacks from off-screen are a complete non-issue (and it's SEXY when you suddenly score a Parry seemingly out of nowhere because you're so locked into these cues).

I can't wait to start writing about this again. I can break this game down to the ground for you!

I'm going to have to get into this. After Bayo I went back to God Hand and totally got the vibe with that game. I still didn't finish it, but really loved the system and the style of the game.

DMC I've never really played (even though I own all three). I really should tear myself away from the no-effort mong stuff I'm playing at the moment. I've now finished inFamous for example, which was horribly average in a sub Just Cause 2 sense. It's about time I treated myself to a proper game, but then I have so much unplayed goodness to get into. I could go back to God Hand and bitch slap that about some more. Then there's Resi4, Shenmue 2... The list goes on...

Just ignore part 2 - everyone does.

Tarted up part 3 is worth the price of admission alone.

This is great except for a few annoying changes.

DMC3 is already perfect, it's fucking flawless! But this collection was given to a bunch of 3rd party nobodies who just had to stick their stupid fucking fat greasy fingers in. They've (thankfully) left the game untouched, it's PS2 DMC3 Special Edition in all its glory. But they've completely fucked up a number of sound effects, most notably the barrage of gunfire across the screen when you get a decent grade. It just sounds like a complete mess, they've added the "Orb collect" sound effect into the gunfire, it just rapidly sounds in the background and makes the whole thing a confusing mess. They've also "rebalanced" (fucked up) the music, you can barely hear the lyrics during a boss battle. Fighting Cerberus with THAT track fires me up so much, but now you can't even hear it above the sound effects.

Trophies are unfortunately included, and you are constantly spammed for the most stupid shit imaginable. I just SS ranked Cerberus and got no trophy (thankfully), but was immediately awarded one for simply spending points on an upgrade EVERY player would buy. They constantly reward you for doing fuck all and it cheapens the game no end.

Capcom have fucked this up completely, it's impossible to find. I had to order mine from Amazon. I would strongly advise against the PS3 version, if you have a convertor or can get on with the 360 controller - try that version instead. There's loads of crazy frameskipping and slowdown in odd places which may not be so bad on the 360.

Capcom farmed this out to a bunch of talentless nobodies who have selectively replaced a texture here and there and claimed this is some sort of HD remastering of the DMC games. They have made loads of really stupid changes. For years I have been going on about how brilliant the audio is in DMC3 and how it perfectly communicates the enemy attacks to the player. These idiots have taken it upon themselves to change many of the sound effects in DMC3, and add a weird/botched spacial effect where you can't hear the enemies if they are a distance away from the player. The odd graphical effects added here and there cause nothing but trouble, the Beowulf fight for example has an OTT heat haze effect added to the room which causes frameskipping, which fucks up your parry timings no end. The Nevan fight also suffers from weird game speed changes as the bats which surround her cause slowdown. So the game slows down when you're hacking away at her bat shield, then immediately snaps back to normal speed when she starts her "Get Ready" attack. I NEVER miss those parries, but in this I miss the first parry every damn time!

They've even fucked up the background sound effects of the stages. You know the moving gears in certain rooms? Or the waterfall you go through in order to reach Nevan? They sound like 8-bit noise, a really low quality drone which will leave you amazed at how fucking awful they are.

I played up to Mission 18 on the PS3 version and thought "fuck this". I immediately put the PS2 version back on and have been playing it solid since then. The only thing this pathetically cheap cash-in has done for me is force me to appreciate the perfection of the original. If you badly feel you HAVE TO play DMC3 in widescreen - buy it. If not, it's not worth your time - it's a complete fucking joke, a joke made by a bunch of talentless twats nobody has ever heard of.

The game is not a HD remaster. They've replaced a texture here and there, included widescreen support, added moronic trophies and fucked up the sound. The textures on Dante and Vergil actually ruin the way they look, the two sides of the new facial texture do not mesh correctly - both characters have a permanent black line down the middle of their faces. It's shit like this which simply hammers home how little attention to detail these muppets have. I know this is just a minor thing, but it's indictive of all the other fuckups I've listed and I'm sure there are more. Like for example, the parry system in DMC3 doesn't work as it should. If multiple attacks overlap within your parry window, the system allows you to block all of them in rapid succession with a single input. But in this, I have been caught by additional hits within the same parry window. For example against the spiders, the claw attack of the big spider is actually 2 hits, but the hits connect at (almost) the same time making it look and act as a 1hit attack. In this version, I parry this attack and find that I'm being hit by that invisible 2nd hit - which should automatically be parried as it is within the same window as the 1st hit.

There's loads of bollocks like this in it. ¬_¬

In other news Capcom have also farmed off Lost Planet to yet another bunch of talentless nobodies. It's as if the management of Sega have suddenly taken over Capcom, what they're doing these days makes no sense.
