Anyone played this? I had a quick bash at the demo and it seems bloody awful, but something about it completely intrigued me, so the 360 version is on it's way.
The music reactive environment is really nice, but the premise (and the brawler controls) seems absolutely ridiculous.
Why would Def Jam artists want to be portrayed smacking the crap out of each other? Why are all the environments low-rise urban ghettos? How could this possibly be a good game?
I intend to find out

playa, is it live-able? I wanna beat down yo foo wiv my custom decals.
I have this coming in teh post on the ps3 so i will give some opinions soon. Im a sucker for all this ghetto ish so ima hafta have a dabble me thinks.
From what ive read the fighting sytem is not typical of Def Jams previous efforts, but the game looks so shiny and pretty that i had to snap it up.
Wonder what tuowns are in the game Hmmm.......

ps3 version trumps 360 version by a long long long long way.... unless there is a PSP version, I think 112 wins this round.
They look the same to me...
Still not put any time into this, Picross stole my gaming time last weekend.
Still not recieved it in teh post yet Grr...... but from what ive read on some website, it turns out that the 360 version runs a fraction quicker than the PS3 one, Go figure...........
Hopefully this will turn up in the weekend for some major rinsing
I SO cant wait to pimp my guy up from head to toe in a stereotypical ghetto pimp

I saw the shots, laughed at the apalling character models and overall blandness and I've witnessed it's sorry excuse for a system;

The music reactive environments are good though, even if everything has to be urban grime.
I still don't understand - why would you want your likeness put in a game where other rappers smack the crap out of you? There is something big I am missing here.
... you do know you can mix and scratch your tracks whilst smacking foes down? It's a system I can see integrated into VF in the next version... Kage donning some cans and busting some moves then... wikka wikka wikka wooo... smashing Wolf into the next track and slipping some damage off him... fo'real
Hehehe

I agree that music reactive environments are class - but it seems so out of place! If the game actually had an endearing charm and vibe to it - then yeah, it works. This thing is just fugly and devoid of any kind of control mechanics or fighting system features to make learning it worthwhile.
I fucking hate hiphop culture and the people involved now anyway - that's probably why I hate this with such vengeance.
I completely agree.
I have to find out if it really is as bad as it seems - there might be some fun to be had out of that
Going OT Retro, what's people's general opinion of Wu Tang Taste the Pain? Personally I rather enjoyed it as a multiplayer game.
I wonder if this is where all of this started from?
Well i FINALLY got this through the door last week and im a lil bit dissapointed by it, graphically it isnt as pretty as i initially thought
The fighting system is beyond fixing, it jus feels wrong and i find the whole pace of a fight painstakingly slow! The idea of an interactive environment when you 'scratch' is nice, but i find the AI incredibly annoying. There is an attrocious amount of loading time too! which is criminal for what it is loading sometimes.
The editing option of your create a player mode is plentiful i guess, but everything jus seems a lil rushed or unfinished about the game.
It soon gets really predictable, fight, buy stuff, fight, buy more stuff. The signing of artists is a nice spin but its hardly advanced in any way. You throw some money towards teh artist and thats it.
The game relys too heavily on the broken fighting system.
The ONLY thing i am liking about it at the moment is the customising of your own character by buying all sorts of clothes jewellry etc. To tell you the truth i mainly brought the game for this option alone, as im a sucker for clothes and dolling things up. Especially american ghetto styles lol.
Overall id say the game is avrerage at best. I have yet to take it online, and probably wont bother, is jus feel so robbed......... the fact that some peeps pay retail for this game is criminal when you think about the RRP of £49.99 - Ouch!

I told ya!
I'll let Knuckles sum up this game perfectly -
