Made by Relic, who brought the world Homeworld (the greatest RTS ever). This is an extension by all accounts of Dawn of War (A Warhammer themed RTS). The underlying principle being there is no resource gathering, its all about jing of the hill style capturing of areas.... which works great. Especially if you are fed up with C&C style RTS games as I am.

You get squads of men, than you click about into cover automagically, and without the resource crap you get a more of a tactical flanking chevrons type gaming enterprise. There's a BETA Multiplayer demo out that my housemate introduced me to, which I'd be playing except that my 3d card is dead.

So, check it out.

So I hooked my PC back together, got a flatscreen and all that. Played this last night until 2am.

It rocks.

The king of the hill or is that hills, is great tactically, there isn't humongous tech trees, but there are forks and decisions to be made...

Freaky, I hooked up our new flat screen last night. Can't get X to use the cards DVI socket, so it's VGA Linux for the time being (I struggle to see any difference truth be told).

Game sounds cool. I confess I got bored of Homeworld after a while. The whole design your own ship formations thing was too much for my tiny brain to handle.

Thinking in 3d, its great!

This game... is totally different. It's not even remotely the same.

But Relic, for me, make the best RTS games. I so much as they concentrate on the strategy, if that's your bag.

There is a single player demo out now. Nice'n'official.

This is absolutely freaking awesome RTS.

Played it LAN with my housemate for hours last night. Just an excellent combination of tactics, strategy and decision making.

A very well made and thought out game, very well balanced and highly polished.

2006? pah! I laugh at you 2006 JibberX.

So, on Steam, Company of Heroes, the whole shooting match, they've released "three" games... £30.

This is old news... but for my favourite RTS game ever, I'll take it.

Not sure what's happened in the last FOUR YEARS, but, anything by Relic is anything worth trying.
