Yeah, that's right... me holding off on buying a Japanese Wii just PAID UP.

Want!
I've wanted ever since they showed a black machine in the "Revolution" promotion vids.....damn them! T_T
Even less chance of me shifting my white Japanese Wii now then *grumble grumble*
So this is all being bundled up in a Monster Hunter 3 pack with the PlaySta... Classic Controller Pro, all suspiciously coloured like a consoled we can all think of... it doesn't take many leaps to see what Nintendo are doing there.
Almost tempting to jump into Monster Hunter land, but I know it would end me.
I'm the same; Monster Hunter is pure brilliance, but I know what will happen if I start playing it. I've got too much on the agenda to get involved in a game like that - even when I "dabbled" with the PSP game I ended up playing nothing else (and that was offline!")
Reggie says they'll be more western-centric with how they bundle this in the States. My guess is that they'll do a black Wii complete with Metroid: Other M rather than Wii Sports. Properly target those hardcore gamers that haven't seen the (blue) light yet.
Good
I've jsut got Monster Hunter Freedom 2 on the PSP. Didn't realise there was any love for it on here! Hopefully it won't take over my life...
When are Nintendo going to drop the price of the Wii? I'm feeling it has to drop to £129 or lower this year.
I am tempted to enlist under Captain PAL for the new Monster Hunter, but is 60Hz, progscan etc. still a concern these days?
Don't think so the Pal Wii can give you all the 60Hz Prog goodness you desire.
Most (but not all) PAL Wii games support PAL60 and 480p, but it does depend on each individual game.
What is crap is that the Virtual Console games are normally 50Hz (apart from the TG-16 and Japanese version stuff).
Again with the subliminal messages but part of me really wants to give Monster Hunter a Tri... ha ha ha... having had a successful go with Borderlands and quite enjoying it... something even more lite... or something is having an appeal.
However, I really don't know what the game actually is!?
Its all armour upgrades or something? Research ahoy!
You take down beasts, carve them for their body parts to craft yourself better equipment and use that to take down an even bigger beast!
The gist of the combat mechanics are precision and timing, MH is light on aids like stat grinding, auto-camera and assisted aiming so the prospect of setting up your position for a takedown sounds like it could be interesting.
I went into GAME during lunch today and it's like you said, 50/60Hz with EDTV/HDTV support is declared right on the back of the game cases -will come in handy! Unfortunately, Mad World lacks both options.
As Captain PAL! I have not really noticed or cared.
Without a frame of reference and pretending the world is pre-Columbus its all rather rewarding. Cheap games in bins that you'd never buy other wise and games that never existed and over priced under supported downloadable games.... its a great and rewarding experience. I can recommend it to everyone.
I am most bitter about Exitebots. Money I can re-earn, but games that don't appear is unacceptable.
Unfortunately, Mad World lacks both options.
Yeah, but the US version doesn't support prog scan either, something to do with them not having time to optimise the code propoerly. It's pretty offensive, but you get over it the first time you ram a signpost through someones face.
Indeed on my Tele and with the graphical style of that game you're not really counting the scanlines or whatever, I didn't notice.
But then my cheap solution for not owning a HD TV is not not wear glasses when playing, thereby halving the resolution I witness in real life and on a 2d plane.
Ah, I'm battling the upscaler in this Bravia TV I have, it's not ideal for what I want to use it for where it induces input lag, whatever improves the source signal helps. Poor choice of words.
